Since last two updates, clicking Dashboard > Home (Which links to wp-admin/index.php) returns 404 error even while logged in as admin.
I thought the most recent update was bringing a fix to this, so I did not complain until now.

Please investigate and fix this asap!

I do not reproduce the problem on my side, are you multisite?

Can you detail the action you are doing exactly to have this 404 error?

    No, multisite is inactive.

My point is, after login one is redirected to https://www.domain.com/wp-admin/. But from WordPress navigation system, accessing Dashboard > Home points to https://www.domain.com/wp-admin/index.php.

From my end, when https://www.domain.com/wp-admin/index.php is accessed while logged in as admin, I’m being redirected to https://www.domain.com/404.

I installed it on a site at the moment and I do not reproduce your problem.

Did you try disabling your other plugins?

I tested on two different sites and had no problem. Just a guess, try being sure all caching is cleared, perhaps test in Chrome Incognito window. MTN

So the problem does not come from the plugin.

@nicolaskulka, @mountainguy2, I just figured out the cause. I updated two other plugins alongside, and one caused the error. It’s fixed now.

False alarm. Sorry for wasting your time.

    The plugin jungle. Never ends.

@vcollinzo I had a similar issue in that the update URL was redirecting to the 404 page.
Had me stumped as I hadn’t updated anything other than WP-Hide-Login.
Turned out to be a weird Chrome Cache issue as I could load in Firefox/Safari but not Chrome.
Once I cleared the cache (clearing cookies didn’t help), all was fine. What was confusing was that even in Chrome Incognito it was failing. Chrome has been doing some really weird things with it’s cache of late.
    Panic over…

(cheers @mountainguy2 for the reminder to clear down !!)

@shinerweb, when I tried incognito in Chrome and it still returned 404 I then thought it had nothing to do with cache.
So I disabled the updated plugins, cleared browser and site cache, then all was fine again.
Thanks for sharing your experience and fix, many will find it really useful.

Amazing it was failing in Incognito, perhaps some caching on server as well. It gets really confusing as there are usually numerous caches doing their thing. I’ve been going through heck with this for years now. MTN

    Perfect, everything is fine then.
    Have a good day.
