 * Each time I edit the option page in the themes and press save

 * it goes to the homepage of my site, what can I do to resolve this

 * That’s strange, do your changes take effect?
    Are you running the latest version
   of WordPress (2.9.1)? If so, try going to Tools >> Upgrade and clicking “Re-Install
   Automatically”. If not, upgrade to 2.9.1 and see if your issue still occurs. 
   As a last resort, you could use a combination of an [FTP client and a text editor like Smultron for Mac or NotePad for Windows.](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients)

 * Just tried the Tools >> Upgrade and clicking “Re-Install Automatically”. thing
   and it still doesn’t save
