# wp-config.php and index.php installation problems

 * 1) I used fantastico autoinstall to install wordpress. After choosing a theme
   I was able to view it when typing veronicarose.com/index.php
 * But if I clicked on anything it just went back to my homepage, which seems logical
   enough since I still had my old index.html in the files.
 * Question: Do I have to delete my old index to use the new one?
 * 2) I thought that maybe I just missed a step in the installation process so I
   looked around online and realized that I should update and rename wp-config-sample.
   php. So I did. Ever since then I cannot access veronicarose.com/index.php at 
   all, nor my admin.php
 * It could be that I entered the information wrongly (I emailed my host yesterday
   to have them check but have not heard back yet). The problem is then why did 
   it work before with a sample page? It seems that it shouldn’t be any worse off
   for my tampering with it.
 * I’m not sure if that makes sense. But really the mystery of the wp-config.php
   file and how to get my index.php on my main domain name (www.veronicarose.com)
   are my two problems.

 * Probably, yes. Most servers will choose index.html before index.php. So you can
   probably just rename index.html to index.bak. wp-config-sample.php needs to be
   named wp-config.php and have the right database information, or else your WordPress
   installation won’t work.

 * Thank you for the tip about renaming my index.
 * Actually I did rename wp-config-sample.php wp-config.php after updating the information
   and that’s when all my problems started. It was actually working better before
   with the wp-config-sample.php and I can’t figure out why.

 * Never mind. I deleted wordpress and reinstalled it. Problem fixed. More or less.
   I have to put my theme back and the changes that I’d made but that wasn’t so 
   difficult. Seems I was messing with things I shouldn’t have been because I was
   confused about the whole index thing.
 * I tried the advice given above and changing the index.html name to index.bak 
   was the perfect solution.
