• Hi,

    I tried to create a widget area. After editing the function.php file, my WP crashed. This is the message I got;

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ” => __( ” (T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING), expecting ‘)’ in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas07_data01/11/2715811/html/wp-content/themes/matheson/functions.php on line 334

    I cant reload.
    I went backwards, removed the code and updated the file. But the same message came.

    If you have one of the default WordPress themes in your “themes/” directory, you can get your site back up for now.

    Through your hosting provider’s control panel, go to the place where you can access the files of your website. Then rename the “matheson” folder to “matheson-old” (or anything). This should deactivate that theme. You can rename it straight back afterwards.

    You will have to upload the functions.php via ftp.

    Did you save a copy of your functions.php before editing?

    You can redownload the theme and just re-upload the file that had the issue: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/matheson/

    That will wipe the error and it will wipe any other changes you’ve made to that file

    I have downloaded the theme. Where do I upload it, since I cannot access my WP-dashboard. Also I cannot find a way to upload on my hosting provider’s control panel…

    No, I have not saved any copy. I only just begun working on my page, so its not much to loose anyway.
