    Hi,

I think this should be part of the settings:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/companion-auto-update/

    https://ps.w.org/companion-auto-update/assets/screenshot-1.png

It doesn’t add complexity and the benefits are far more than the complexity.

In the era where so many softwares and OSes literally download and force install updates, I think it is preposterous not to have that by default.

You’ll say – what will happen if something breaks? Now please check how many people were hacked in comparison to how many people have broken functionality. You can introduce rollbacks in case something is broken.

It is a total nonsense that people must constantly look to update their plugins. If you are on a vacation for a week, you’ll have plenty of issues with the plugins which are not updated.

Hackers are seeing the changelogs and built tools to mass check for security issues and they are exploiting that.

As a result tons of sites are hacked.

It is beyond belief not to support auto update from the settings, enabled by default.

    This is 2020!

Only geeks now can enable full auto updates. Your CMS must be working for the average Joe, not for geeks or devs. The average Joe will go with cloud hosted CMSes like Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and others if you don’t make it non-geeky working by default.

Auto-updates should be enabled by default!
