 * Hi,
    I read in other threads that you recommend using WP Super Cache for page
   caching & Autoptimize for CSS/ JS optimization. I would like to try this but
   I don’t know what options to enable.
 * I found this article that suggests these settings: [https://smartprofitschool.com/speed-up-your-wordpress-site-with-wp-super-cache-and-autoptimize/](https://smartprofitschool.com/speed-up-your-wordpress-site-with-wp-super-cache-and-autoptimize/)

   Could this settings be ok?
 * I run an ecommerce site with Woocommerce, I use Shoptimizer as my theme (they
   were the ones who recommended Autoptimize) and Siteground as my hosting. I also
   use Jetpack for CDN and social sharing.
 * In the past I used SG optimizer but it gave me problems with broken layout so
   I would like to change.
 * Please, can you help me? I am really inexperienced and would not want to do any
   damage.
 * Thank you in advance for the help!

 * well, there’s no risk of conflucts between WP Super Cache & Autoptimize, so that’s
   nothing to worry about.
 * regarding settings; impossible to say I’m afraid as optimal settings depend on
   the full context (theme, theme configuration, plugins, plugins configuration,…).
 * you _could_ start with just Autoptimize and try CSS, JS & HTML optimization separately
   to see if one of those causes problems. if no problems arise when tested separately
   activate all 3 and then install & activate WP Super Cache. if problems do arise
   follow up here with more info (including your site’s URL) and we’ll navigate
   this together 🙂

 * Hi, I have a follow-up question regarding the combination of WP Super Cache and
   Autooptimization.
 * I have made some caching exclude rules in WP Super so that GEO IP Pricing is
   shown correctly for everything.
 * Will the exclusions be transferred to AutoOptimization?
 * The website is [http://www.nezumistudios.com](http://www.nezumistudios.com)
 * Pricing is based on IP. The reason being that we do not charge VAT on orders
   outside of the EU.

 * as Autoptimize does not do page caching, there should be nothing to be transferred
   really?

 * Oh, but what cache is it then I can chose to delete in the top bar menu?

 * that’s the autoptimized CSS/ JS which is stored for re-use.

 * Hi Frank,
    I am having a problem with render blocking resources (reported by
   pagespeed insight and gmetrix). In the Autoptimize FAQ I read that you need to
   select “inline and defer CSS”. I’m not sure if I selected the right option, I
   attach a screen to show you the settings: [https://pasteboard.co/KbSbfl1.jpg](https://pasteboard.co/KbSbfl1.jpg)
   [https://pasteboard.co/KbScszh.jpg](https://pasteboard.co/KbScszh.jpg) Is this
   ok? Do I need to insert something in “paste the above the fold CSS here”?
 * Thank you in advance for your help!`

 * Yes, you will need to add “above the fold CSS”, the FAQ links to a couple of
   tools that can generate that for you, also see below video (not mine) on how
   you can proceed;

 * Hi Frank,
    I tried to do what he says in the video but the site showed an error
   and I could no longer log in. I restored the site from a backup made before the
   changes. Isn’t there an easier way to eliminate this problem? I am not able to
   make this kind of changes on the site….
 * Or, can I uncheck “Aggregate CSS files?”, “Also aggregate inline CSS?” to avoid
   this problem? Could the site have problems if I suddenly unchecked these options?

 * Your CSS will always be render-blocking if “inline & defer” is not checked and
   you will have visible content shifts if you don’t provide good “above the fold
   CSS”. An (paying) alternative could be the “critical CSS”-integration on the
   tab with the same name?

 * How much would this integration cost me? Is this a recurring payment or do I
   only need to do it once?

 * the integration itself is free (part of Autoptimize), but the use of the 3rd
   party service is not free, see [https://criticalcss.com](https://criticalcss.com)

 * Okay, thanks for the clarification!
 * One question: along with Autoptimize, Jetpack (with site and image acceleration
   enabled) and WP Super Cache, can I use the “Smush – Lazy Load Images, Optimize&
   Compress Images” plugin to optimize images? Because in speed tests I keep getting
   the suggestion to compress images.
    I usually compress them with TinyPng before
   putting them on the site but I thought that maybe they need additional compression.
   Am I wrong? Unfortunately, despite Autoptimize, WP Super Cache and Jetpack as
   CDN, the site is still quite slow on desktop (score 72) and is very slow on mobile(
   score 34).
 * Thanks in advance for the answers!

 * hmmm, Jetpack & Smush both to image optimization so you would have to choose.
   Additionally my personal opinion is that Shortpixel gives way better results,
   so that would be my proposal (see “images” tab in AO).
