WP2.1 and AddQuicktag plugin issues

Since upgrading from WP 2.0.6 to WP 2.1, I have noticed the following.

When opening a new /post-new.php page, all the quicktags I added through the WP AddQuickTags plugins are missing. That is, UNTIL I publish or save the post. Then all my self-created quicktags magically appear again.

B the way I am not using the visual editor. When I do, none of m own quicktags appear in the “visual” tag and about half of my own quicktags show in the “code” tab … after I publish of save the post.

My solution? Click the “save and continue editing” button immediately after I open the new post page.

Any ideas on a permanent solution? The author of AddQuickTags plugin isn’t supporting it anymore.
