 * Hello Peter,
 * My pages have suddenly stopped working and I can’t work out why!
 * See the page I’ve linked to.
 * I’ve put in three shortcodes in about the middle of the page, in the ‘translation’
   section:
 * 1) **[wpdataaccess table=”bachtrans”]**
    2) **[wpdataaccess table=”bachtrans”
   columns=”german_text,english_text” filter_field_name=”bwvno” filter_field_value
   =”0001″]** …and finally 3) **[wpdataaccess pub_id=”25″]**.
 * The first two don’t work (though they have in the past). The last one, using
   a publication, does: and I’ve put a screenshot on that page so you can see the
   publication is using the table ‘bachtrans’ and selecting the correct column names
   and field values and so on, too. Clearly, the data is there and the publication
   is able to fetch and display it, but the wpdataaccess shortcode seems not to
   be doing so at the moment.
 * The Settings -> WP Data Access -> Front End page has the bachtrans tab selected
   and highlighted whilst the radio button for ‘show only selected tables’ is on,
   so I think the access permissions are correct.
 * Has there recently been a change in the plugin that makes the wpdataaccess shortcode
   with table, column and filter field values supplied change behaviour?
 * I’d prefer not to have to create 200 unique publications for my translations,
   so being able to filter directly by shortcode has been really useful to me in
   the past. If it’s just me being stupid, though, please feel free to point out
   what madness I’m doing!
 * Best wishes,
    Howard

 * Hi Howard,
 * Did you grant access to table bachtrans in the plugin settings? This is needed
   when you use the table argument directly. It is not needed if you use the Data
   Publisher.
 * Granting access is is explained on this page (see section important):
    [https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/documentation/shortcodes/shortcode-wpdataaccess/#user-defined-shortcodes](https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/documentation/shortcodes/shortcode-wpdataaccess/#user-defined-shortcodes)
 * Please let me know if this solves your issue,
    Peter

 * Hi Peter,
 * As I said, in Settings -> WP Data Access -> Front End, the radio button ‘Show
   only selected tables’ is selected and the bachtrans table is then highlighted.
   So yes, I think I have granted the relevant permissions.
 * In case we’re not talking about the same things, I have added a screenshot of
   those Front End settings to the page I’ve previously linked to, so you can see
   exactly what’s set, selected and what have you.
 * But none of that has changed recently, anyway.
 * Regards
    HJR

 * Hi Howard,
 * Can you publish these shortcodes on a public url (outside your menu) so that
   I can see what’s happing?
 * Thanks,
    Peter

 * …is the page. Directly accessible, no menus involved.
 * Can you not get to it or something?
 * Cheers,

 * Okay, I see what’s wrong! Your current version has an issue with shortcodes using
   the table argument directly. There is patch for it. Please follow the steps described
   on this page to solve:

 * Sorry if I’m getting the wrong end of the stick, but
 * [https://absolutelybaching.com/testpage.html](https://absolutelybaching.com/testpage.html)
 * …will get you the code cut-and-pasted out of that page, showing the shortcodes
   I’m using.

 * Oh good! At least it’s not me being stupid!
 * And the patch is perfect: everything is looking normal once again.
 * Thanks for the excellent support work, as usual.
 * Take care,
    Howard

 * Hey, I did a ‘drop database’ on a production database once. After having deleted
   all backups.
 * To err is human. To really stuff things up, you need an over-confident DBA who’s
   not paying attention!
