# WPForms builder returning 404 error on creating a form

 * Hi,
 * I have WPForms Lite installed on my WordPress site at dublinatcgolfsociety.ie
   and the form builder is returning a 404 error every time I try to access it.
 * The URL it attempts to load is: `/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpforms-builder`
 * Steps I have already tried without success:
    - Deactivated and reactivated WPForms
    - Flushed permalink structure by switching to Plain and back to Post Name
    - Deactivated SpeedyCache, Wordfence, SiteSEO Pro, Loginizer Pro, CookieAdmin
      Pro and GoSMTP Pro one at a time
    - Fully deleted and reinstalled WPForms Lite
 * The WordPress dashboard loads fine, all other plugins work normally, and the 
   WPForms menu appears in the sidebar — it is only the builder page itself that
   returns 404.
 * The site is hosted on HostDime shared hosting. I suspect there may be a server-
   level rewrite rule blocking the URL but I am not sure.
 * Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 * When you get the chance, could you please try using the steps in WPBeginner’s
   detailed guide on [troubleshooting WordPress](https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-guide-to-troubleshooting-wordpress-errors-step-by-step/)
   to see if it helps resolve the issue?
 * If the issue still persists after testing with everything else disabled (plugins
   and switching to a default theme), that would usually point to a **server-level
   issue**.
 * A **404 error** typically happens when the server can’t locate the requested 
   page, often due to a broken or blocked URL, incorrect rewrite rules, or server
   security settings. In cases like this, it can sometimes be caused by things such
   as
    - A **ModSecurity rule blocking the request**
    - The **server firewall filtering query strings**
    - Incorrect **file permissions** or server rewrite rules
 * The best next step would be to reach out to your hosting provider and ask them
   to check these on the server. They should be able to review the firewall and 
   ModSecurity rules and also reset file permissions if needed.
