    Hello Jacob,

We have several new problems with the WPPA+ Upload Photos widget. Could you take a look at these please:

First, I noticed today our WPPA+ Upload Photos widget “UPLOAD TO ALBUM” drop-down listing of photo albums is not sorting the names of the photo albums. The following page is germane:

    https://tibesar.com/upload-photos/

Secondly, when logged in as Admin,, I can only upload 1 photo at a time. (I have always been able to upload several photos at a time in the past.)

Thirdly, after I upload a photo, the caption is reading “ssssswss” “My Choice Delete”. Please look at the Abbey Ida Tibesar photo album located at:

    https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/lnen/cv0/pg2/ab178

I uploaded 3 new photos to this album today.

The caption has always been the filename in the past.

Fourth, why is the URL for this album named “https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/lnen/cv0/pg2/ab178”? I believe in the past, the URLs reflected the actual name of the photo album.

Did a huge update change this widget completely?

This is very troubling to me since we have a family archive of over 14,000 photos, and I don’t like changes to our very important WPPA+ Upload Photos widget.

If an update absolutely requires plugin users to change their settings would you please let us know?

Also, I would like to be able to LOCK/UNLOCK all settings so that no changes can be inadvertently made thereby helping to ensure our WPPA plugin works without issues.

I have to admit Jacob I am getting leery of applying WPPA+ updates. I just don’t have the time to always test after applying the frequent updates.

I am really sorry for whining, but I need to get this widget working again.

    Thank you very much!

Recently i had to make many security related changes, and i am aware of the fact that not all side damage is fixed. I am working on it. Please report what you find, and have a little patience with me, please…

    I see Jacob.

Okay, we will close our Upload Photos for now while you are fixing things.

I pretty much reported my findings in the first Post above.

However, I noticed that I am also unable to update the filename and description boxes within the WPPA+ Upload Photos widget as well.

Thanks and appreciate your looking into this for us.

First, I noticed today our WPPA+ Upload Photos widget “UPLOAD TO ALBUM” drop-down listing of photo albums is not sorting the names of the photo albums.

Will be fixed in 7.0.00, to be released asap.

I can not reproduce this, and i can not login: changing computer made me loss login creadentials, pls mail ma at opajaap at opajaap dot nl.
What is your language setting in the wp general options page?

Fourth, why is the URL for this album named “https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/lnen/cv0/pg2/ab178”? I believe in the past, the URLs reflected the actual name of the photo album.

Will be investigated. Is related to security issues.

If an update absolutely requires plugin users to change their settings would you please let us know?

Sure, will be in the readme and/or here

Also, I would like to be able to LOCK/UNLOCK all settings so that no changes can be inadvertently made thereby helping to ensure our WPPA plugin works without issues.

You can backup settings in Table VIII-A2 and restore them in Table VIII-A3.

However, I noticed that I am also unable to update the filename and description boxes within the WPPA+ Upload Photos widget as well.

    I can not reproduce this.

    Hi Jacob,

I have now reset your password on tibesar.com and I have emailed you your login credentials.

The Language Settings in the WP General Settings is English (United States).

    Thank you!

I changed a few settings and uploaded a photo. Except for the unsorted selectionbox, it seems to me that everything works correctly.

    See https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/lnen/cv0/pg2/abAbbey%20Ida%20Tibesar

If the “ssssswss” stays coming for you, try a different browser or computer.
The Edit link is back (You only se “Ed” because of the limited space, but it works).

I also made a backup of the settings. You can restore them (only when there is something wrong and you can not find it) in:
Table VIII-A3: Load settings – Restore all settings from defaults, a backup or skin file. Set it to: --- restore backup ---

    Thank you Jacob!

I did extensive upload testing today using different browsers and roles, and it is labeling the filenames correctly. Yeah!

The problem with the blank NAME and DESCRIPTION boxes was the css text font color was set to #ffffff – so white text on a white background – ha! So funny and so dumb on my part! Oh well, you’ve got to laugh!

Thank you for backing up our settings for future restores if needed.

I will conduct follow-on testing for the other 3 widget issues once 7.0 is released:

1.) sorting of photo album listing
2.) limited to uploading 1 photo at a time
    3.) URLs not meaningful

Appreciate all the help on this! At least now we can resume uploading our photos!

By the way we have been transitioning to the Gutenberg editor, and it seems to be working pretty well. We’re favorably impressed with it, and now enjoy using it.

    Donation was sent.

    Thank you,

    Marcus

    Hello Jacob,

Tonight I updated the plugin to Version 7.0.00.016.

The Upload Photos widget now sorts the Upload To Album drop-down listing – thank you very much!

This widget is still limiting me to uploading 1 photo at a time however. Although the widget now states, “You may upload up to 20 photos at once if your browser supports HTML-5 multiple file upload” when I click on the BROWSE button I can only highlight one photo on my computer.

The URLs for the photo albums are still unmeaningful. For example the Abbey Ida Tibesar photo album URL is: https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/cv0/abAbbey%20Ida%20Tibesar

    Just an update.

    Thank you very much!

Sorry for that, i had to change code at 2 places.
I installed developmnet version 7-0-01-001 wchich contains the fix.

I also configured Table IX-M and created a landing page, so the ‘new album’ mailing will work now as you wanted it.

You may change the title and the content of https://tibesar.com/new-album/ as long as you leave the shortcode [wppa type=”landing”] on the page. There will be a link in the emails that open this page with the new album on it.

I discovered a new problem with the WPPA+ Upload Photos widget today.

Long filenames in the “SELECT FILE(S) OR CAMERA” box run off the page, and I cannot see the UPLOAD PHOTO button.

Also, if you select several photos the “SELECT FILE(S) or CAMERA” box runs off of the page and again I cannot see the UPLOAD PHOTO button.

    Cheers!

    Good evening Jacob,

I found another bug in the WPPA+ Upload Photos widget this evening.

Using the backend Album Admin I created a new photo album titled, “Joseph Leopold Tibesar 1880 – 1965”

I also uploaded a single photo to this new album using the Album Admin. There is one new photo in the album now.

When I go to the https://tibesar.com/upload-photos/ Page (Upload Photos widget), the new album is not in the Name drop-down listing.

    Sorry for all the trouble…

For example the Abbey Ida Tibesar photo album URL is: https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/cv0/abAbbey%20Ida%20Tibesar

Where exactly do you see this link? If you follow the link it reads correctly in the browser addressline.

    https://wppa.nl/docs-by-subject/emails/

    Is back available now.

    “Joseph Leopold Tibesar 1880 – 1965”

is in the list now. After chnaging page content it may take some time before the page cache is cleared, this fixes itsself.

I will get into the long names issue later.

    (@mtibesar)

Yes, if you follow the link it reads:

    https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/cv0/abAbbey%20Ida%20Tibesar

I would like it to read as:

    https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/Abbey-Ida-Tibesar

Is that possible? I believe it was sensical before…

    Thank you very much!

    (@opajaap)

    https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/wppaspec/oc1/cv0/abAbbey%20Ida%20Tibesar

I would like it to read as:

    https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/Abbey-Ida-Tibesar

Currently i am changing code to make it possible to select one of the following options (just example names):

    1.
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/?wppa-occur=1&wppa-album=My-Holliday-in-France
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/?wppa-occur=1&wppa-album=My-Holliday-in-France&wppa-photo=My-dog

    2.
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/?occur=1&album=My-Holliday-in-France
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/?occur=1&album=My-Holliday-in-France&photo=My-dog

    3.
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/wppaspec/oc1/abMy-Holliday-in-France
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/wppaspec/oc1/abMy-Holliday-in-France/phMy-dog
This is better for caching and search engines

The problem in your suggested https://tibesar.com/photo-albums/Abbey-Ida-Tibesar is that there can not be detected if ‘Abbey-Ida-Tibesar’ is a page permalink slug or an album.
This is why in example 3. there is /wppaspc/ that indicates that everything after /wppaspec/ are ‘translated’ query string arguments.
There are approx 30 different query string argument types, a.o. album, photo, search tokens, switches indicating ‘topten’, ‘medals-only’, etc etc etc…

I will see if a structure like
    https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/wppaspec/1/My-Holliday-in-France/My-dog
https://mysite.com/my-demo-page/wppaspec/1//////dog (e.g. when searching on tag: ‘dog’)
is implementable, but closer to ‘human readable’ than this looks not possible to me.

I suggest for the time being that i install the dev version that makes the above 3 options possible, and configure it to option 2. above, if you agree.

    Thread Starter Mr Tibbs

    (@mtibesar)

    Good morning Jacob!

Okay I understand why my suggestion is not doable.

Option 3 I believe is the best (easiest to read).

    Thank you!
