# Writeable Directory?

 * I started a post, and attempted to use the “upload image” feature, under the
post. It told me that the parent directory wasn’t writeable. So I made the wp-
content directory writeable, and it worked.
 * But is it okay for me to leave this directory writeable? Is it secure?

 * its not secure, by any means, but its required to have it world-writable if you
   wish to upload.
 * Take it or leave it.
 * You can chmod it back to something more secure if youre nervous, and adjust it
when you need to upload. That does work too.

 * fwiw, NO world-writable directory should EVER be considered secure.
