 * My organization URL is [tptc.org.sg](http://tptc.org.sg), but when people share
   the page on ios/andriod/ or the share button next to the address bar, the link
   appears as [tp-tc.org.sg](http://tp-tc.org.sg) (which is an online gambling site).
 * I am not the one to set up the website, nor am I familiar with WordPress/Yoast.
 * I understand the term “canonical link” after reading numerous posts about it
   and even the few related forum threads.
 * I think this false canonical link was Yoast-generated. I would like to remove
   this canonical reference.
 * I have tried using the Yoast tester to “reset Indexable tables and Migration”
   but this link is still there.
 * I read another thread to input “wpseo_canonical developer filter” but I cannot
   find the steps to do so. Please give me a step-by-step guide on how to remove
   this canonical link.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fwrong-canonical-link-generated%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * [@marcustanfree](https://wordpress.org/support/users/marcustanfree/) We’re sorry
   to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
 * The Canonical tag is used to avoid duplicate content issues when you have the
   same content available on many variations of a URL, so that all those various
   URLs can all point to one URL for indexing purposes. We also have additional
   information on this feature at the following link: [Canonical URLs in Yoast SEO](https://yoast.com/help/canonical-urls-in-yoast-seo/).

   By default the Yoast SEO plugin will output a canonical tag for every page/post
   on your site, and will use the permalink of that page/post for the canonical
   URL value. Normally, you would leave the Canonical URL value in the plugin blank
   by default and the canonical tag will automatically be set to the same value
   as the page’s permalink.
 * If you do wish to change the Canonical URL for a page, you would need to perform
   the following steps:
    - • Go to the **‘Edit’ **screen for a page/post
       • Scroll down to the Yoast
      SEO box and click on the **‘Advanced’** area. • Set a value set for the **
      Canonical URL** • Click ‘Update’
 * Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and let us know whether this
   resolves your issue?

 * Hi Devnihil
 * Is there a way to do apply this setting to All pages? at once?
 * And also, we are using the free version of Yoast Plugin. Does that affect?

 * Hey [@marcustanfree](https://wordpress.org/support/users/marcustanfree/),
 * Thank you for your reply.
 * No there is no way to do this in bulk. Please know that Yoast SEO will base the
   default canonical URLs and all other URLs, like social URLs, on the site URL
   which is configured in the WordPress general settings (Settings → General). So
   I’m a bit confused about how this has happened for your pages … this must have
   been entered manually in the past?
 * What you could try though is doing a search/replace query on your database where
   you replace all instances where “tp-tc.org.sg” is found on your own site URL.
   However, this is quite technical and you can easily make mistakes in this. Please
   consult with your site developer to do this and make sure if you do this your
   own, that you have a database backup.
