 * Seems the pin count is off. I’m picking a url of mine with the least amount of
   pins for ease of tracking the numbers (or lack thereof):
 * [http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/](http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/)
 * Currently shows a pin count of zero. Also verified on:
 * [http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fthai-beef-salad%2F](http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fthai-beef-salad%2F)
 * But on the Pinterest source page, it’s been pinned a couple times, so I’m wondering
   how that works. I know I myself have pinned it to my relevant boards a couple
   of times.
 * [http://www.pinterest.com/source/www.thecookingjar.com/](http://www.pinterest.com/source/www.thecookingjar.com/)
 * You can see it’s been pinned at least 18 times (including my own) from the source.
   Can you help?

 * Hello.
 * It looks like [http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/](http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/)
   has a pin count of 4 both on the page and on [http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fthai-beef-salad%2F](http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fthai-beef-salad%2F)
 * Remember the pin counts look at the page it’s pinning, not the image. So if someone
   pins your home page that’s going to count separately.
 * Hope that helps!

 * Thanks for getting back to me.
 * My question is, if the total pin count is 4, then how is this explained? (pin
   count numbers in brackets)

 * Every single one of those pins lands on the page, not my home page.
 * [http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/](http://www.thecookingjar.com/thai-beef-salad/)
 * It’s not that I’m haggling numbers because I’m upset by how little it is, like
   I said I specifically used a page of mine with very little to make the numbers
   game easier to grasp.
 * I’m genuinely concerned why it only shows 4 on the pin count image and the pin
   count website but on Pinterest, pin counts are different.

 * Another example of pin counts lost is this page:
 * [http://www.thecookingjar.com/coconut-shrimp-with-spicy-chilled-pineapple-sauce/](http://www.thecookingjar.com/coconut-shrimp-with-spicy-chilled-pineapple-sauce/)
 * As of writing the total pin count is ‘1’.
 * But these images have different numbers and every single one lands on the page
   in question:
 * [http://www.pinterest.com/pin/530298924846893008/](http://www.pinterest.com/pin/530298924846893008/)(

   7) [http://www.pinterest.com/pin/509188301593340802/](http://www.pinterest.com/pin/509188301593340802/)(

   29)
 * Pin plugins.com site also shows a count of 1:
    [http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fcoconut-shrimp-with-spicy-chilled-pineapple-sauce%2F](http://pinplugins.com/pincount/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecookingjar.com%2Fcoconut-shrimp-with-spicy-chilled-pineapple-sauce%2F)
 * I may have used this plugin of pinning by hovering over images to pin everything
   in question:
 * [http://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-pin-it-button-for-images/](http://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-pin-it-button-for-images/)
 * But even if I did, shouldn’t the numbers across the board be universal irrespective
   of what plugin was used to pin? And pinplugins.com is an independent site from
   both plugins, so shouldn’t the numbers reflect the true amount?
 * Even if the plugin in question does not work right, shouldn’t Pinterest’s data
   send back the proper pin count, irrespective of what plugin is used?
 * Thanks!

 * Hi Cookingjar,
 * I have the same issue. It is not the plugins fault- something is wrong with pinterest.
   I have Phil’s pro plugin and shareaholic and I have tried both to no avail. I
   have taken pictures of my pin counts being over 100 one day then down in the
   single digits the next day. It’s something wrong on pinterest’s end. I have contacted
   them for over two weeks now. I constantly get emails back talking about notifications
   instead of pin counts. I have even attached pictures and the pinterest help desk
   team still doesn’t understand that I am talking about my pin counts. It is highly
   frustrating to me! I don’t understand how my URL can have over 100 pins one day
   and then single digits the next. It has happened constantly on every single post
   of mine. I know the pin counts in the 100s are accurate because I get the emails
   from pinterest every time it is pinned! Pinterest needs to resolve the issue,
   but first they need to get a help desk that understands the issue! Wish I had
   an answer!

 * [@cookingjar](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cookingjar/) – This is definitely
   rare behavior. I don’t recall seeing this in a while if at all. Your linked URLs
   from your pins do look correct.
 * [@homesteadgirl](https://wordpress.org/support/users/homesteadgirl/) – Thanks
   for chiming in. You’re correct in that this issue has to do with Pinterest and
   not the plugin itself.
 * Sorry I can’t help more. Attempting to get this resolved by Pinterest is your
   best bet. Keep trying!

 * [@homesteadgirl](https://wordpress.org/support/users/homesteadgirl/) – I’ve contacted
   Pinterest too and started taking screenshots. I submitted a ticket about a month
   ago and heard nothing from them. I followed up on the email and someone told
   me it takes time to fix. Then they closed the ticket and marked it as resolved
   when it isn’t!
 * My pins are still losing counts. It’s easier to track the ones with lower numbers
   than the ones over 1k and those pins just keep resetting and resetting. It feels
   self defeating to publish a post and get pin counts only to have them reset to
   0.
 * I’ve submitted another ticket. The help desk seems very inefficient or lazy or
   just plain slow. One month later and still no resolution.

 * I have the exact same problem. The funny thing is my older blog entries aren’t
   resetting. But my newer ones are. I wonder if it is resetting it because it realizes
   the initial pins were by me instead of someone else?

 * I’ve also had pin counts disappear and reset to 0. (4 posts over the past 2 months).
   I am so relieved to find this thread. I thought it was just my site. I’ve written
   pinterest support several times and in one of the letters they said it was definitely
   something on their end. The most recent note said they were working on it even
   if I didn’t hear from them again and they closed the ticket. However they have
   not listed as one of the things they are fixing on the support page. It has been
   very frustrating as some of you have expressed, i’ve had some posts that had
   about 200 pins that just disappeared. I’m about ready to turn off the bubbles
   on my site. The big question is for me is: are the disappearing pins hurting
   my sites analytics?

 * Hi friends. This is unfortunately happening to me too. I’ve had my pin count
   continually “reset” – was up above 100, and the next day, down to zero. Then,
   it will tick back up, and reset again. It seems to only be happening with my
   newer posts. How exactly do we get this information to Pinterest?

 * Same problem for me.
    My pint count continually reset and go down to zero. Anyone
   get some news from Pinterest?

 * I now have another pin that has gone to zero. It sounds like we need a plugin-
   in of some sort that will ‘force’ the correct counts from pinterest. I’ve started
   keeping track of the pinterest id # for each picture I pin from my site so I
   can see what the actual counts are. Pinterest told me that I seem to be the only
   one complaining about this problem… If you haven’t written in and complained,
   please do so. They want to up-sell me promoted pins. But the idea of paying money
   for improved views that would simply show ‘0’ is too painful.
