# Wrong startup page

 * I have the latest version of wordpress running on a xampp server. and I am a 
   wordpress beginner IT proficient
 * I put in the wrong start page url. now when I go to [http://localhost/wp-admin](http://localhost/wp-admin)
   it takes me to [http://localhost/recipe/wp-admin](http://localhost/recipe/wp-admin).
   How can I fix this is there a file I can look at I looked at .htaccess but it
   was the correct information from a web site I looked at. I thought I had a handle
   on what I was doing but I i was fooling myself .

   to be your WordPress site address.
 * [http://localhost/wp-admin](http://localhost/wp-admin) – I am not sure if this
   is the correct address you are trying to access because [http://localhost](http://localhost)
   is default then it uses the folder name(where all the WordPress files are) to
   make it your site address. If you are changing the folder name then you might
   need to change the site URL as well. For that you can consider one of the methods
   like this [https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/#changing-the-url-directly-in-the-database](https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/#changing-the-url-directly-in-the-database)
