# Yahoo! Database installation problems

 * I’m trying to install wordpress for a client who uses yahoo hosting.
 * Even though yahoo offers an option inside their sitebuilder to automatically 
   install wordpress, it won’t install it at the root of the server. It insists 
   on doing it in a directory. For reasons that are long and complicated, I absolutely
   MUST install my client’s blog at the root.
 * Manual installation of wordpress on yahoo is hampered by the fact that the version
   of phpmyadmin offered by yahoo won’t allow me to create a user for the wordpress
   database. It allows me to create the database, but when I attempt to create a
   user, I get this error:
 * “Warning: Your privilege table structure seems to be older than this MySQL version!
   Please run the script mysql_fix_privilege_tables that should be included in your
   MySQL server distribution to solve this problem!”
 * Has anyone found a way to surmount these problems? I’m literally tearing my hair
   out. Short of telling my client to move to a different hosting company, is there
   anything I can do to get this installed at the root?

 * The guide that MichaelH posted worked to create a user for the database. I was
   able to install wordpress. However, after installation, when I went to view the
   blog, the only thing that worked was the homepage. Anything going off of the 
   homepage gave me a 410 error, such as is documented in [this post](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/410-gone-error-yahoo-problems?replies=3).
 * It’s like yahoo is punishing me for attempting to install wordpress. Ugggh.
