 * When Yoast SEO is activated this URL: [https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/](https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/)
   returns “There has been a critical error on this website.” When Yoast SEO is
   deactivated, the WordPress REST API works correctly and this URL: [https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/](https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/)
   shows the correct data. Hosting is with WPEngine.
 * Forgot to mention, there are no other plugins installed and the lates default
   WordPress themes were tested also.

 * Yes, same issue occurs

 * I am getting this issue as well. When Yoast plugin is enabled, the REST API returns
   a 500 error, and when I look in PHP logs it is exhausting the memory. This only
   happens when the plugin is on.

 * Having this issue on my site as well, I get a 500 return code when Yoast is switched
   on. There seems to be a memleak somewhere, when the plugin is switched off everything
   works fine.

 * Hello everyone,
 * Thanks for reaching out, and I am very sorry it took a while to respond to this.
   We tested this on sites that run free or free/premium, and none of them has the
   issue. So, it’s likely specific to the setup – content, theme, server restrictions
   etc.
 * Kindly navigate to WordPress admin > Tools > Site Health > Info (tab) and click‘
   Copy site info to clipboard’. Save to a text file and share via a link like pastebin.
   com.Taking a look at what your sites have in common could help determine a possible
   cause so we can reproduce it.

 * So you’re saying the solution is to not use Yoast SEO and to use another SEO
   plugin? Thanks!!!

 * I am also seeing this issue. When I deactivate all other plugin but yoast, the
   Critical Error is there but when I deactivate Yoast, the problem goes away. My
   hosting is also with WPEngine. This is one of the messages on the Site Health
   screen:
    REST API Response: (http_request_failed) cURL error 28: Operation timed
   out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
