Hi again,

We are using Yoast along with WPRM and recently checked in Google structured data our Recipe posts to see how they are interpreted. we found out we have two schema markups: One of type ‘recipe’ added by WRPM, and one of type ‘Article’ added by yoast (plus the hentry one).
hentry 0 ERRORS, 0 WARNINGS, 1 ITEM
Recipe 0 ERRORS, 1 WARNING, 1 ITEM
Article 3 ERRORS, 0 WARNINGS, 1 ITEM

On WPRM plugin description, one of the features is that plugin ”Integrates recipe metadata with Yoast SEO schema graph”
Is it normal to have two different types :’recipe’ and ‘article’? how can we fix that?

Can you give me a link to a recipe on your website so I can take a look?

With the Yoast SEO integration enabled you should only have 1 top level “Recipe” object, like on our demo site: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/?hl=en#url=https%3A%2F%2Fdemo.wprecipemaker.com%2Famazing-vegetable-pizza%2F

Sure! Here is one of our recipes posts on Google structured data, with WPRM and Yoast both activated.

When we deactivate Yoast, purge cache then resubmit to Google structured data, we get only ‘hentry’ and ‘recipe’.

And you have the Yoast integration enabled on the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Recipe Metadata page? Latest version of both our plugin and Yoast?

The hentry metadata is probably coming from your theme.

Thanks, Brecht! Feature ‘integrate with yoast” was not activated. It is now.
In Google structured data (same link as above), I have:

hentry (I’ll see with my theme support if they can take it off)
Recipe, composed of 2 items. The first item seems like it’s generated by WPRM, and second by Yoast. ID’s are not the same. How can we merge them?

You shouldn’t have 2 items. Never seen that before, actually, which usually indicates a compatibility problem.

Try disabling all other plugins for a second and see if it works then.
If not, try switching to a default theme (like Twenty Seventeen) and check again.

Hi Brecht. we made some investigation and the second markup was from a review plugin we were using, which didn’t have the same id as Yoast, hence creating a new markup.

Plugin support gave us a little code to add to function.php and now reviews seem merged with Yoast markup (and WPRM).

I hope it doesn’t introduce any incoherences with WPRM. Please let me know if that’s the case. I would be grateful.

I don’t see any immediate issues with that. Any particular reason for not using the Comment Ratings feature that’s included with WPRM?
