I am having problems with the layout of the YouTube embed.

For the sample page, I embeded the video directly on WordPress and also on WPRM. The vide embeded directly on WP looks fine, while the video embeded on WPRM looks weird, with wrong proportions, particularly on smartphones.

    Sample page: https://cozinhatecnica.com/2020/09/crumble-de-maca/

Is there something I can do to fix this?
    Thanks

What did you use as the embed code?

Just the link that appears when we press “share” on YouTube.

I used the same code in WordPress and in WPRM.

In this other page I used the full code (iframe…) to test if it would work. It´s better, but still has problems:

Using any video related plugins? Looks like there’s some lazyloading, for example?

We essentially just output whatever you put as the embed code as is. So it should behave pretty much the same.

Hi, I was initially using a YouTube plugin, but deleted it. I have now also disabled lazyloading (from Siteground Optimizer and Smush), but the problem seems to persist.

I can’t find why the YouTube video has perfect proportions outside WPRM and has problems inside, for the exact same code.

I currently used the GeneratePrees theme.

Thanks for the great work with the plugin, by the way. I am planning on buying the pro version next month.

I will have to do some testing on my end and will get back to you.

Thank you. Let me know if I could be of help with your tests

I have not been able to replicate the issue yet.

Could you test if you have the same problem when using our default “Chic” recipe template. If you do, could you test if you have the same issue when using the default “Twenty Twenty” theme?

Just trying to figure out where the difference is.

    So, this is what happened:

    – Change template: problem persists
    – Change theme to twenty twenty (but only in preview mode by now): problem disappeared.

I will test tomorrow morning (Portugal) time again, when I have less traffic, but it seems the problem is in compatibility with the theme. I did not change anything i CSS.

    Thank you again.

    Hi,

The problem seems to disappear with Twentytwenty.

By mistake I installed twentytwelve first. The problem exists with this template as well.

I did some digging and looks like Twenty Twenty is using some custom JavaScript to make sure all videos keep their original ratio.

I can look into adding a setting to do something similar for the recipe video in our next update.

Thank you very much! That would be great.

One more info: the problem exists with Chrome, Edge and Firefox. The only browser which seems to adjust the size right is Opera – all of those tested in Android smartphone (OnePlus 5T).

    Hi again,

I wanted to let you know we just released WP Recipe Maker 6.7.0 which now includes a “Force video ratio” setting on the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Media page. Could you give that a try?

Yes, it seems to be working great! Thanks a lot for that!
