• I’ve been trying to get Spanish subtitles to work on this site: , it didn’t work until I changed the YouTube Embed to edit as html.
I added the code yt:cc=on, not at the end of the url, but in the figure tag, it still didn’t work until I changed YouTu.be to the normal YouTube.com.

It worked on this page: [ redundant link removed ]

There are more videos I started doing the same thing to, but then this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYOmwkMHPFY stopped working no matter what I did.

    • I tried using the YouTu.be url
    • I reinstalled WordPress 5.8
    • I tried to edit in html
    • The Embed button doesn’t do anything
    • I hit the Try Again button and nothing
    • I tried several plugins, all failed
    • I even tried it on a different site with the url’s listed here, and the same thing happed

This started with one video and the previous video that I had done successfully, then started doing the same thing.

Here is the html for the video:

    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube yt:cc=on"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
    https://youtu.be/YYOmwkMHPFY
    </div></figure>

  • I believe YouTube removed the ability to force subtitles to appear some time ago; it’s not a WordPress issue.

I’m not trying to force anything, YouTube sucks, that’s the problem!!
I didn’t work no matter what, their coding is out of date, they need to hire people that know what they’re doing!

I ended up uploading the videos to the client’s server and using WordPress text tracks.

But now there’s a compatibility problem. I works fine in FireFox and Brave, Chrome no, because Chrome is Google. Google, Youtube and Chrome suck ass as does Internet Exploder!!!!
