Hello, colorslides, & welcome. First, could you please provide a site url?
Also, could you look to your address bar of one of those 404 url’s & let us know where it’s pointing?

In reply to: Log In Issue In CanadaHello, kaz1234, & welcome.
First, it might be helpful if a site url were provided. It might also prove helpful to know if your hosting is Linux or Windows, & whether it’s shared, VPS, or dedicated. 2nd, are there any security plugins/firewalls running that may be blocking Canadian visitors? Along the same lines, might the site be redirecting visitors to a specific page depending on their inferred location? 3rd, you might wish to ask your host to look at the server logs to see if any mod_security rules are firing. You might also ask Canadians who cannot log in to look to their address bar & tell you where they’re being redirected.
That’s an interesting problem.

In reply to: Twenty Seventeen Theme: Fatal ErrorHello, jmeier33, & welcome.
The problem is *not* the 2017 theme. It’s that the site is expecting a plugin called JV, which, as you state, is no longer there.
If the plugin folder is still in your wp-content/plugins folder, please try appending a 1 or a .old to the end of the foldername & see if that helps?
Please let us know.

In reply to: Fatal error when upgradeHello, lizvoss, & welcome. It were really better if you’d start your own topic regarding your difficulty, as this thread has been marked ‘resolved’. The only reason I saw it was simply because I either forgot, or was too lazy, to unsubscribe from it. I’d strongly advise you to begin your own thread, but feel free to post a link back here if you’d like me to take a look.
This sounds, however, like a caching plugin issue. Are you using any sort of caching plugin such as w3-total-cache or wp-supercache, or similar? If so, you should inactivate the plugin by renaming it. Appending a 1 or a .old to the folder name using either secure file transfer, such as that found in the Filezilla FTP client, or your hosting provider’s file manager, can accomplish this. Next, please open your wp-config.php file & change the true to false in the following line, leaving the end punctuation marks intact. :
define( ‘WP_CACHE’, true );
will look like:
define( ‘WP_CACHE’, false );Lastly, please find object-cache.php in your wp-content folder & rename it, i.e., object-cache.ph1. Clear your browser’s cache & cookies & try logging in again. Please let us know how this goes–in your own thread, if you’d be so kind.

In reply to: Login panel error “This has been disabled”JT Coyote, please start your own topic. You may post a link to it back here if you wish. I’m suspecting that you’ve got some sort of security plugin that’s causing htis.

In reply to: Past 3 years of posts missing and profile from Home Page but.Hello, Bob, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. I’m probably as mystified as you, but perhaps your answers to the questions I’m about to ask might help. We appreciate so much your providing a site url–it really helps a lot–more than you know, most likely.
So when is your most recent post? I’m seeing 2014. Do you have later posts than this? & what are we looking for re: your bio?
Next, I am going to make a very strong recommendation. Your version of WordPress is *very* out of date. That should be remedied as soon as you possibly can. Though I’m not seeing evidence of it, it could be that the site has been compromised, thus the reason for what is occurring. I’ve seen mysterious deletions before as a result of a site compromise. It could also be that your database has become too large, & your hosting company has scaled it back. They should notify you if that is the case, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. Or the email gets dumped into your spam folder & you never see it.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

In reply to: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)George, may we see your .htaccess file, please? Also, if the contents of the index.php file in wp-content is anything other than // silence is golden, please let us know this. Lastly, may we please have a site url?

In reply to: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)Hi, georgehannan, & welcome. Could you tell us the folder where WordPress is installed? Have you attempted to move wp-content from out of the website root?

In reply to: Cookies blocked or cookies not supported@ajeetkmishra, the IP you provide is a private networking address; thus, the site is not viewable publicly.
Have you tried using wp-login.php rather than wp-admin? Could you please tell us where you’re redirected to when you attempt to log in? (you can find that information by looking at the address bar of your browser).
I’m more than willing to try to help, but, in case it’s of interest, we now have a Hindi support forum at:
I’m acquainted w/the forum founder there through the support team meetings, & he’s a very nice gentleman.

In reply to: Yet again another cookie error while login.@ajeetkmishra, please start your own topic regarding this. When doing so, please include a link to the site in question & whether or not your hosting is shared, VPS, or dedicated. You may also post a link to your topic here, if desired.

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not run& that is a disadvantage of using child themes, Paula, ie, if there are known vulnerabilities in the theme code, it’s not updated & the necessary patches are therefore not applied, as would be the case when using a theme right out of the box, as it were.
Please ensure the devices you use to log into your website are clean of malware, that you’ve changed the default username/password on your router, especially if it’s something like “admin” or “pass”–or, heaven forbid–none at all. Use secure file transfer rather than plain FTP, & don’t log in from public networks such as hotels, restaurants, etc. Update your site frequently & use complex passwords. A plugin that prevents brute force attacks & shuts down vulnerability scanners, ie, bots scanning sites for vulnerable code that can be exploited should also help.
Thanks again, @ipstenu for getting things working for Paula. Come back & visit us anytime, Paula.

In reply to: Can’t type in main text box on “Edit Page” pagePhilip, I’ll communicate this to team members & see if they have any ideas as to why that might be happening. I’ll try to do some research, too, but I’ve got some personal stuff going on now & might not be able to devote much time.

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not runo, yeah–& you asked what security plugin I recommend. My current favorite is Wordfence. Others have their own, of course, & it’s no substitute for doing your part such as keeping your site up-to-date, having good passwords, etc, just as vitamin supplements can’t make up for peoples’ stupidity w/their knives & forks, for example, but I really like it. By default it checks only WordPress core files, but, since themes & plugins are actually the most likely to get compromised, I usually check the options to have Wf check themes & plugins as well. Turn that off if scans aren’t finishing, etc.

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not runLol, Paula, I’m working my computer now w/a broken wrist–it’s a pita. So I can identify w/the glasses thing.
Ipstenu & I sometimes meet on the WordPress support forums weekly chat. I was really hoping she’d pop in this thread, as I was aware she worked for Dreamhost. Truthfully, I should’ve pinged her. But w/this broken wrist & a very sick kitten, I kinda got distracted. Apologies.
It looks as though ipstenu got stuff working for you. If that be the case, could you please mark the topic as ‘resolved’ so the volunteers know you’ve been helped & can feel free to go on to help others. Thanks. & thanks as well, @ipstenu. Good luck w/your endeavors, Paula.

In reply to: Can’t type in main text box on “Edit Page” pagedigitalc2, I brought this up in our support forum team meeting this morning, & @macmanx said it was likely due to an extension you’ve got installed, ie, ad blocker, etc. So perhaps try Chrome in “safe mode”, ie, all extensions disabled, &, if that solves the problem, try adding them back 1 by 1, clear your browser cache & cookies, & try editing again until you get a failure, at which point you’ve found the culprit. Run-on sentence if ever there was 1, but hopefully the grammar police are sleeping in this morning.
Please let us know if that helps.
