 * I found the problem. I went into my ftp file manager on godaddy and noticed that
   the sidebar.php files had been recently deleted. I restored the 0 byte empty 
   files and the problem was solved. I don’t know why they were deleted (as I didn’t
   delete them) or why restoring them solved the problem but it did.

 * The thumbnails aren’t clickable in IE7 either.
 * I’m having other problems as well. For instance, any permalinks other than the
   default do not work for me with this theme. That isn’t the case for my other 
   blogs with different themes. My typical blogfeed of URL/feed doesn’t seem to 
   be created with this theme either.
