To update, I used the ‘search everything’ plugin to make this possible.
The problem I now face is that the documents themselves are restricted to only be viewed by those who have logged into the site, it has been set up using the membership 2 plugin to restrict the pages of the documents rather than the documents… So mow these are displayed in the search!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Temporary fixed by added text after the images in the blog then deleting the text – now it stays inside the post boundaries.
