Also, some instances seemed to work for me late yesterday. I noticed that if I tried to name the menu item the same as the original, it often resulted in the random number being generated.
Workaround that is working ok for me: Instead of creating Menu elements from “Pages”, instead use “Custom Links”. This did not generate the random numbers.
Out of curiosity – Is anyone else using the Yoast SEO premium plugin? I noticed that as soon as I added items to a menu, Yoast SEO said that I “deleted a post URL”. Maybe this is related to what’s happening??
It was so random – I just deleted a menu item and everything turned into numbers. I migrated things to a testing site: http://www.matthewgrossmann.com. You can see the issue with the menu there.
I am also having this issue and do not have many menu items. What theme are you using? I am using Quark.
