Interesting suggestion and something we will consider. I’m going to add it to our idea list and will circle back with you on what we decide to do.
Also, thanks for the feedback and feature ideas so far 🙂
Do you mind sending me an email directly with a little more background on how you’re using LeadIn? Hearing how you’re using the plugin will help us come up with better designs as we build more – [email protected]
Cheers and thanks again!
Hi – I just wanted to circle back to let you know that we’re going to add the ability to toggle the thank-you emails off when a visitors subscribes.
As for expiring the cookie if someone closes the pop-up, that’s an interesting suggestion and is a feature we’ll evaluate.
Thanks so much for providing your feedback. My direct email is [email protected] if you want to send me anymore ideas or feature requests you have for the plugin.
I’m going to mark this ticket as resolved. Please do feel free to reach out with anymore questions anytime.

For #2, what kinds of lists specifically would you want to create?

First off, I’m sorry the plugin broke for you during a recent update and that we didn’t resolve your problem for you.
What email did you send in a support ticket to?
I want to make sure your support ticket didn’t miss our support system, because if that’s the case, we may be missing other support tickets too.
We’ve been working really hard to try and solve all our support tickets and I’m sorry we did a bad job here. If you’d let us, we’d love to get this resolved so you can experience what LeadIn has to offer and rate the plugin on how it’s supposed to be working.
My direct email is [email protected]. If you send me an email with your website address I’ll work on this first thing in the morning.
First off, I want to apologize for the issues you’ve been experiencing with LeadIn and say sorry it crashed on you. We’re working hard to improve the code of the plugin as well as our development + testing processes so that the plugin is more stable and works on a broader set of WordPress sites.
I also want to address your comments so that people reading this thread know the context of the review.
For those unaware, the major error was a bug we found in our contact merging scripts which was not working properly and deleting contacts from one of the LeadIn tables. Fortunately the affected table was only used as a cached datastore that speeds up database queries.
We worked round-the-clock to write a script that restored 100% of the contacts without any data loss. The data restore process was seamless and users would have never even known there was a problem unless we told them. We didn’t have to disclose the issue, but since our team believes in transparency, we proactively let our users known about the problem and how to fix it through upgrading the plugin.
As for the plugin being prone to crashing, yes, we’re aware and are taking measures to ensure our development + testing process is more bullet-proof moving forward. We recently downgraded our development environments to versions of PHP that are 7+ years old so we can support non-updated servers running WordPress.
WordPress also doesn’t have a built in process to beta test new plugin versions before pushing an update to the entire user base. We’re planning to supplement this hole in WordPress by modifying our plugin to allow users to opt into a beta + testing program, similar to how the WordPress core developers test new release candidates. The beta period for each new version should sniff out most of the issues caused by legacy versions of MySQL, PHP and WordPress. If the process works well, we may be able to contribute the code back to the WordPress core so developers can build better plugins.
I’m writing out this long explanation so that you know we’re working really hard to make LeadIn the best possible free marketing plugin for WordPress by addressing issues head on. Thanks again for letting us know about the problems. Your feedback helps us continuously improve our plugin.
Cheers!
1. Navigate to /wp-content/plugins/leadin/inc/class-emailer.php and download the file
2. Open the downloaded file in a text editor on your local computer
3. Comment out line 117 with the characters //The final results should look like this:
//$this->send_subscriber_confirmation_email($history);4. Upload the edited version on your computer into the /leadin/inc/ folder, overwriting the existing class-emailer.php
If you have any questions or those instructions weren’t clear please let me know.
Alternatively if you want me to take care of the change for you and don’t mind giving me FTP access, I’m more than happy to do so for you.
Currently that isn’t a settings we have baked into the plugin, although it’s something we’re thinking about including in a future update.
Do you know how to edit PHP files? I can tell you which line to comment out to disable the email notifications if you know how to edit files manually.
Hi – This problem should be fixed with LeadIn version 0.8.2. Please let me know if you have any problems so I can fix them right away if there are still lagging issues.
Sorry again for the initial problems. We’re putting measures in place to test for older version of PHP moving forward.
Upon further investigation this seems to be an issue with piece of code we used to fix a bug that is not compatible with PHP versions lower than 5.3. Since 46% of WordPress users run PHP 5.2, we’re going to patch it and push out the fix today.
Thanks again for letting us know about the issue and I’m sorry LeadIn crashed your site.

This is something we’ll look into for a future version of LeadIn. I’ll circle back here when we start to include translation functionality, and thanks for volunteering to do the Russian translation. We’ll definitely take you up on that 🙂
Cheers,
– AndyHi –
I’m sorry about the plugin crashing your site. We tested the new version pretty extensively before launching the update, but it seems like we missed a few bugs.
To start, do you mind telling me what version of PHP and WordPress you are running?

Unfortunately our monoglotic team lacks the language skills and bandwidth to create the .po + .mo files for each language right now.
When we have a larger install base, we will most likely enlist the help of our users to translate LeadIn into other languages though.
If you’d like to help out with a specific language or have experience translating WordPress plugins, please email me [email protected].
I’m going to mark this ticket as closed for now.
