In reply to: Password keeps disappearing when I try to log inHello Pdcancel,
Sorry to hear you’re having problems with the login. Sounds very puzzling indeed. For security’s sake, one thing you can do is limit access to your WP-admin by IP address – at least temporarily. Then only you can access your admin and work on your site in security. Check out this article for information on this issue:
Look for “Limit Access to Wp-admin by IP”.
If you’re clearing you’re cache and you’re trying to use the password that your browser has saved, it will generally be cleared and you’ll have to re-enter it. However, you did say that your password is disappearing after you type it in and BEFORE you hit the enter key on the login page.
I’d start with limiting the login so that you’re not getting hacked while you’re figuring it out. One quick thing you can also do is make sure to check and repair your MySQL databases – you may need to check your host for that. It doesn’t hurt to do this just in case the database has some problems.
Make sure that you’re going to your login page (double-check the URL you’re seeing when you login). Check your .htaccess file for any re-directs that look suspicious. If you only have your WordPress installation then it should it should look like the one in this post:
http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/i-destroyed-my-site-default-htaccess
If that isn’t the issue, start simplifying your installation.
If you’re running a bunch of plugins – make sure that’re not having anything to do with your login issue by disabling them. Strange things can happen if you have a plugin is going awry.If you continue to have the problem, then provide us more information about what you’re seeing. Please post any error messages if you continue to have the problem. We’d be happy to try to help!

In reply to: fake user registrationsHello Julieanncase,
Sorry to hear you’re having problems with security. If you’re getting a bunch of fake registrations, I would re-assess security of the admins who have access to the account, as well. Try resetting passwords and limiting access to all admins (if you have more than one moderator/admin) to the WordPress account and then see if it continues.
Also, there are a large number of plugins that may help to stop spam registration. Check out this one:
http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/stop-spammer-registrations-plugin/
Hopefully, that will help to stem the tide. Let us know if the problem continues!

In reply to: Copied site files to new domain now cannot loginHello Ms. Chris,
Happy Birthday! The Moving WordPress article really does cover every possibility, but in this case, you’re just basically duplicating the site. This was originally answered here:
Creating a copy of WordPress install
They mention a plugin that might make this a whole lot easier too. Check out this one: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/duplicator/
I hope this makes it easier to make that copy!

In reply to: SEO – What am I doing wrong?Hello Laurelbeth,
Just tried running a search for “AW emulsions” and “AW-emulsions” in Google, and it comes up third. So it does appear that you’re ranking. If you’re still having problem with it, make sure to review the issue with Google Webmasters. Let us know if you’re still having issues, or if you managed to resolve everything to your satisfaction.

In reply to: Need help with site layoutHi Genxu,
That looks like a lot of work! There are quite a few grid themes out there that you might want to view. Just take a look at the available themes and search. Or, you can use a search engine like Google and you’ll find lots of them.
Otherwise, you’ll have to create a custom theme, and setup each page for your theme in the grid format. ww.wp.xz.cn has an article that contains much of the information that you can use to create your own theme here:
Theme DevelopmentI hope that helps! Good luck in your endeavor!

In reply to: Can't login and I can't figure it out…Hi GMoney19,
Glad to hear that you’re able to login again. It looks like you have your WordPress installation set up in the /wordpress subdirectory. I would recommend first trying to change the SITE URL in the Administrator Dashboard. Look and see what URL you have set in there. That’s the easiest thing to do first.
If you changed the wp-config.php page, you would need to make sure that your define statements are set to where you want the site to be coming from.
Let us know if that helps!

In reply to: Can't login and I can't figure it out…Hi GMoney19,
Sorry to hear about your problems with changing the URL. Can you let us know exactly what you’re doing?
Were you trying to change to a completely different domain name? Or where you simply trying to change it from http://kemperartgalleries.com/wordpress TO http://kemperartgalleries.com?
That change simply requires that you login to the Admin and change the Site URL.
However, you have stated that you were having problems logging in. Hopefully, that’s all it takes to resolve your issue. If you’re trying to change ALL of your links to a different URL, the you should be editing the wp-config as the instructions in the previous link indicates. If you’re trying to update the files and they’re not changing, then you may need to speak with your provider to find out why you can’t make changes to your files.
As per many hosts, there has been a problem with brute force attacks on WordPress installations. Make sure you have read this forum post if you’re having specific administrator dashboard login issues: Brute Force Attack – Forum link
Hope that helps get you pointed in the right direction!

In reply to: Moving WP site to new domain, lost all the pagesHello Theregoesjb,
Were you using any custom permalinks? I would first make sure to reset those. Just set them to default, and then save. Then set them back so that WordPress re-creates the links. Also, we have also dealt with issues where the database is NOT updated with the links. But there’s a pretty easy solution to it.
Download you SQL file (you already have, I believe).
Open the SQL file in a text editor and then do a find and replace with temp URL. That way you replace ALL of the paths and they won’t be missed. Save the file and re-import. This is much easier than using a MySQL update query, but you can do that too, if that’s what you like to do.
Hope that helps!

In reply to: HeaderHi Paul,
Just a quick fyi – using that same link, go to where it says check out our new filter and tag interface.
You can filter out the themes to find something more like you want – instead of going through hundreds of themes. I selected “flexible-header” and it shows 43 matches. But, take a look – as the moderater indicated MANY of the themes might meet your needs.

I loaded the IMPULSE theme on my test site, but I don’t see that text for that theme. Can you please provide us more information? Or a URL? We can then see what text you’re dealing with so that we can help.
Thanks!

In reply to: problem with blog transfer to new hostHello Albuck2,
I’m going to take a stab at this, and hopefully it will lead you to the solution. When you move from one host to another, the path used for the location may not always be exactly the same. In this case your database files for WordPress are LOOKING for the path /home/creati14/public_html/. If that directory structure is NOT in your new host, then your WordPress installation will NOT work. It might be easier to migrate your database in AFTER you have re-created a new WordPress installation.
Checkout the relevant parts of this article:
You’re moving the site and moving servers, so you’ll need to make sure that the database matches up with your new location.
I hope that points you in the right direction! Sorry for all the problems!

In reply to: Subdirectory Install and the Main DirectoryHello Cwfrizzell,
This is a pretty common problem – and a headache, sorry for your frustrations! WordPress has actually provided an excellent tutorial for this in their tutorial. I think you used the wrong tutorial. Check this one out:
You’ll need to use the instructions where you’re changing the URL, because you’re wanting it at your site’s root without the subdirectory “blog” in the URL, right?
