Thanks so much for taking the time to share this with me. I didn’t have the padding/margin applied to the sidebar anymore because when I applied it earlier it did not work, so I removed it. After reading your article though, I was able to fix the problem using a px pad rather than the em pad you posted above. /shrug I guess it’s a browser issue.

So for anyone else wanting to know, I fixed my problem by adding

    padding-bottom: 32767px;
    margin-bottom: -32767px;

to my sidebar, and having the overflow style you mentioned above added to me content-wrapper div.

    Thank you very much!

I tagged this with Nextgen-gallery, is there any other way I can get the developer to chime in? It seems that no one else, including Google or this site’s archives can help resolve my issue.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I need to edit my original post to say that the link for the site has changed, I moved the site to:

    tech.bareasschoppers.com

My question remains unresolved, if anyone can advise why I have slashes before my quotes using WP-dTree I would greatly appreciate the help.

No need to apologize, I appreciate the help very much.

Now let me ask, I added the overflow line for my content wrapper and uploaded that much, it made the white stretch like I wanted. I then added the padding/margin lines for my sidebar and nothing changed. I did them in 2 parts because I’m trying to learn what each call does, do you mind explaining to me what they are supposed to do? I live by the “teach a man to fish” philosophy, so I want to learn so maybe I can help someone else next time.

With that said, the sidebar padding/margin made no changes and now my white stretches below the gray from my sidebar. Can you help me figure out how to make both the sidebar and content areas run the same length? So whichever one is longer, the other adjusts? I tried adding the same overflow line to my sidebar, but that didn’t work.

Thank you again for taking the time to help.

Thank you ejk82, I didn’t really mind the watermark in the larger slideshow on my site. I just made the box tall enough that the watermark fell in black space above the image – but the slideshow sidebar widget was almost completely covered by the watermark, and that was annoying.

Very respectfully, I see bumps all over this forum when I’m searching, that’s the only reason I did it.

Is it preferable then, if my post is not replied to, to start an entire new post asking the same question? It seems like that would cause more trouble than a bump.

Thank you sincerely for your reply explaining this to me, I appreciate any further insight into my original question as well as my question now about re-posting the same questions rather than bumping threads.

OK, apparently I did something wrong… I thought I had /bumped this topic in the hopes of getting a reply but I must have not actually posted the /bump.

If I’m wrong and an admin actually deleted my post, my only question would be “why?” Why delete my post instead of offering help?

Anyways, I’m hoping for some insight on my problem and would appreciate anyone who can chime in. So, big thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me with my problem rather than just deleting my request.

Oh ok, so it shows up after I have multiple posts – that was what I wasn’t getting.

I went ahead and made multiple posts so I could see what we’re talking about, now it makes sense and I moved it to the bottom as you recommended.

Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it.

OK, stupid question… How would I turn those on or off, I’ve not seen that option.

What I have done at this point was convert the single.php into a 2 column setup. This was what I really wanted anyway, and by using another help article I just changed the div class and added the sidebar call.

So that was something I wanted that was unrelated to this, but it’s important for anyone still viewing the link.

Anyways, the gap is still there – I’m assuming it’s the navigation div at the top of the single.php. I can just delete the entire div, right? If I figured out how to turn this on it would just be the horizontal nav I see on some WP pages?

Thanks so much for the help.

Thanks for pressing me to try that again, for whatever reason it works this time… I have a default install with slight mods to only the CSS and only a couple of unrelated plug-ins – but it didn’t work before. So I don’t know why it didn’t work before, but it works now and I love it – thanks again for the help.

    You’re like an evil genius…
I don’t -want- to do things the hard way, I just don’t know any better… And thanks to you I’m not.

Thanks so much for the help.

Wow, thanks so much… It seems so simple now that you say it, I feel silly for asking – but this is how we learn.

I have one more question please, I made the changes in the index.php and it works perfectly, what other files do I need to create this div wrapper in? I’m trying to understand the template hierarchy, but I haven’t completely figured out what calls what yet…

I think I need to add it in:
    page.php
    search.php
    404.php
    archive.php

    is that right?

    Thanks again!

I tried that plug-in, it would not work for me. I actually spent 2 entire days trying to get it to work. All I found from searching was a mix of people, some said it worked fine and some said it was broken. If I’m not mistaken I may have seen your name as one of the folks who said it worked for them.
I could never find anyone who could shed light on the reason it didn’t work, just people saying that it did not.

FYI – when I installed that plug-in it would not work in the admin area or the site. I specify that because some people stated it worked in the admin panel but not on the live site.

If you or anyone else has any idea how to fix that, or another idea to try I am all ears. Thanks for your time.
