In reply to: A new install that does not work. Thanks for the info, Helened. I tried several combinations with no luck
RT,
Taking into account Helened’s solution, I came to the conclusion that the WordPress installation 2.8.1 was not working. I did find that several folks were having difficulties with 2.8.1 and suggested downgrading to 2.7.1. After installing the 2.7.1 WordPress file to “http://www.mydomain.com”, I typed in ‘http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php’ and hit enter. Lo and behold I was taken to a WordPress error page telling me that MYSQL Database info was incorrect. After entering in the correct dbname, dblogin, password and host, in the wp-config.php file the installation page came up. (Remember to remove “sample” wp-config.php and add your database info.)
Now I don’t know if this solution will work for you, but it is worth a try. Let me know if you have further questions. I will check back frequently.
Here is the download for 2.7.1:

Here is the site I worked off of

In reply to: A new install that does not work. No, I installed WordPress at a server hosted with Infinology.com. Infinology uses H-SPHERE Control Panel. After setting up the MySQL database, I installed WordPress 2.8.2 via filezilla.
When I go to http://www.mysite.com/public_html/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php I get a 404 error. The install que doesn’t come up.
At the least, I think I would get a WordPress error asking me to create a configuration file, but I get nothing but 404.

In reply to: A new install that does not work.RT, I am not exactly sure which version it is. This cp is new to me. I always use cPanel with Fantastico which makes things a whole lot easier to install.
