I found the offender! It was the plugin “Inline Google Spreadsheet Viewer” which leads to the issue above when activated. You can close this support case. Thank you!
I already tried it with a default theme -> same behavoir. 🙁 I guess the diagrams do not appear since the new version of wordpress (5.4.2) was installed.
