I set the path to the absolute path /home/stuff/in/the/middle/blog/wp-comments.php and no luck there…
/home/stuff/in/the/middle/blog/wp-comments.php
Root: Yes, I was able to edit it with the template editor. MattRead: Yes, and the posts have allow comments checked.
