In reply to: [Patreon WordPress] Login with PatreonYeah, technically this is possible. Patreon WordPress will register users to your WP site if they log in via Patreon and they dont have a linked account before. So you can actually do that.
But i didnt test if disabling account registration in WP general options would prevent the plugin from generating user accounts. You may test after disabling account generation.
If it doesnt let the plugin to create user accounts, then you can just remove register/login links from your sidebar, widgets etc while leaving account creation option in WordPress on. This would cause your users to go through Patreon like a social login.
With 1.0.2, we are going to Connect with Patreon shortcode, which you can use to print out login buttons anywhere on your site. This update is to be released soon, so you can make use of that functionality to put buttons in your login pages or widgets.
There is only community support for this plugin. You couldnt get support for this plugin using help desk.
You should have posted a topic in community forum as bdbrown noted.
Upon visiting the settings page of the plugin, you should see an uneditable field called ‘redirect uri’.
This should be the exact redirect URI which you put into the app settings page at Patreon.
If these values mismatch, you will get that security error.
the article content was also sent to all the regular WordPress email subscribers, regardless of whether they were patrons or not, just as a regular post would be.
Emailing possibly happened through a mailing list plugin or service you have. Because Patreon Connect doesnt have any such feature, or doesnt currently integrate with any such plugin or functionality. (At least not yet).
Therefore, even if you make some posts patron only, that plugin or service you have still would not know that it shouldnt send such posts and would keep sending those posts to everyone.

In reply to: [Patreon WordPress] Patreon WordPress for a PageCurrently the plugin doesnt provide for locking of pages. It should allow locking of any other post type than pages.
I am pretty sure i saw 1500+ at one point. Its possible that what i saw was a test or something that has been taken back, however i am pretty sure about it. I see it quite unlikely that after 6000 more downloads and increasing feedback/communication with users, the active installs remained in between 1k-2k range as it was then.
In any case, i will assume this to be my mistake.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I believe the next break point would be at 1500 – because at one point in the past few months, i saw it display 1500+, and in a few refreshes, it went back to 1000+ again. This was 1-2 weeks after WP org updated to the new interface. I thought “Ok, the counter-updating cron worked but somehow it was taken back”…
One could venture to say that the installs dropped down under 1500, but i see it highly unlikely since at ~3000 downloads it showed 1500 installs, and the retention rate was always close to 50%. Even if we consider retention rate fell and its nowhere near 50% now, i see it quite unlikely that there are 1000 installs for 9000+ downloads.
Steve,
One is this:

The newer one is this:

I believe there isnt browser-caching going on on my side. Since downloads update as i visit the page and check, yet, install counter doesnt.
If its caching on WP org side, i dont know about that…
There seems to be incorrect itemprop elements which come from a schema plugin.
Disable your schema plugin to see if errors will go away. If so, switch to another schema plugin.
This bit is a bit difficult. Only 2 instances of this happening so far, and one of them is you.
What can be done…
First, when this plugin is inactive, please go to w3 validator and check a page which has issues with image breaking with the validator:
If there are html or css ERRORS, not warnings or notifications, then its serious affair. If there is broken html or css, anything can break functionality of images, or anything that uses jquery etc. (galleries included).
After this step, other procedures can be followed to test. But making sure html and css work properly is important.
