    First: I’ve not activated moderation in Bbp Style Pack (pls check your email for exported settings)

    @enkoes

    Got the file export, and confirmed that. What I need to know is what plugin you’re using for anti-spam. Can you go to the “Plugin Information” tab in Style Pack (wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bbp-style-pack&tab=plugin_info) and scroll down to “Site Plugins” and then copy/paste that list either here or in an email to [email protected]

    What I suspect is that you have an anti-spam plugin that auto-blocks any content that contains HTML tags. Quotes contain blockquote, div, span, and p HTML tags which seems to be triggering your anti-spam plugin.

    Second: About the concept of ‘quote within quote’, I want to know how many level can it adopts

    @enkoes

    There is no limit. Theoretically, it could be infinite nested quotes. However, in my experience, I’ve never seen it exceed 5-6 levels deep, even in really long/active topics with lots of people quoting each other.

    I fully welcome your suggestion that quote link should not be removed from the quoted message, but rather when users click the “Quote” link, only the post content gets quoted. NOT other quotes within that post. this will eliminate loads of repeated irrelevant message which is quite distracting.

    @enkoes

    I have made these changes and plan to release it shortly. @robin-w is working on another addition related to theme compatibility, and we’ll probably merge the two and release it in the very near future.

    I’m currently testing Quote functionality and found one issue which may appear to be a major one in my concern: When user make a quote to an already quoted message, a spam reply is created in the backend.

    @enkoes

    This is my current primary focus. I’ve tried to replicate your issue, but it is working exactly as expected on my test server.

    The only thing that comes to mind without being able to verify is that you have Moderation Tools activated (wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bbp-style-pack&tab=modtools) …

    and you have “Hold for Moderation” set to include “All posts below the English character threshold” (wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bbpress%2F#bsp-moderation) when your forum has a mixture of languages including Latin, English, Chinese, and more.

    If that’s the case, every post or quoted post that is below the specified English character threshold will automatically be marked as spam.

    Your Style Pack settings export will help me to verify that, or find another possible cause.

    As for the second part of your topic:

    User should not be shown the quote link for the quoted message in the first place to prevent user to make second quote from the quoted message.

    @enkoes

    I’m not sure that truly makes sense. That means any post could be quoted UNLESS it contains a quote. In other words – from an end-user’s perspective – If you want your comment to be quotable by others, DON’T include a quote from anyone else. If you don’t want you comment to be quotable by others, INCLUDE a quote from some one else.

    Your picture indicates that’s exactly what you would like to have happen, but it doesn’t make much sense from an end-user’s perspective, and would even be confusing to users: why some posts can be quoted but other posts can’t. It would seem/act like the quote system was “broken”.

    What I think would make more sense is to prevent nested quotes (a quote within a quote). Users can still click the “Quote” link, but only the post content gets quoted….not other quotes within that post. Is that what you’re actually trying to achieve?

    Until I can make sense out of this in a way that’s helpful and potentially useful for others, I don’t have any plans to start working on this yet.

    The spam issue at the top is #1 priority, and I suspect it’s a setting value, or possible conflicting plugin.

    (@codejp3)

    I will have to install the Kadence theme and replicate the issues you mentioned.

    One thing that would help is if you can export your Style Pack settings from the “Plugin Export” tab and email them to me at [email protected]

    The theme-specific settings you mentioned are only for specific themes and theme types, so you may not see a “Theme Options” tab. If it makes sense to, perhaps Kadence theme will be included with “Theme Options”. Depends on what the conflicts are and how they could be solved.

    Before even reading this topic, I saw it and instantly thought I broke something with the last update. Glad that’s not the case.

    When user make a quote to an already quoted message, a spam reply is created in the backend.

    @enkoes

    This would be annoying! But it’s not what most people experience. There is some combination of settings, or maybe another plugin, that isn’t playing well with quoted quotes.

    Can you export your plugin settings from the “Plugin Export” tab in Style Pack and email them to me at [email protected]

    It will certainly help narrow down why you’re experiencing that issue.

    @enkoes – version 5.5.7 just released with this update.

    “Quote” link visibility for guest users will follow whatever you have set in the bbPress settings page (wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bbpress) for “Allow guest users without accounts to create topics and replies”.

    Marking as resolved, but feel free to post here if you have any issues.

    codejp3

    (@codejp3)

    I should be able to knock that out tomorrow and release it either Thursday or Friday as version 5.5.7.

    No actions needed on your part 😉

    codejp3

    (@codejp3)

    @enkoes – you won’t be able to right now. Either myself or @robin-w will make the necessary code adjustments and release a new version to take care of this for you. We just need to decide on option #1, or option #2, and then make the code changes for it. I think option #1 is fine (will act like the existing “Reply” link), but I would like Robin ‘s input as well before I spend any time on code for this.

    Expect a new release that fixes this within the week, possibly sooner. Thank you for the request! It’s a good one!

    codejp3

    (@codejp3)

    @robin-w – I just played around with various settings for quotes and can confirm that the “Quote” link does get displayed even to logged-out users.

    If the site has allows guest posting of topics/replies, then it actually works as intended, and SHOULD be displayed by default.

    If the site does NOT allow guest posting of topics/replies, then it acts like a dead link that does nothing.

    I think the best option is either:

    1.) We make the “Quote” link disabled/hidden by default for guests (unless guest replies are allowed on the site).

    or

    2.) We make it act as “register” / “login” link to funnel users to the login/registration form (probably preferred by MOST site owners) and add a new option to hide it completely for guest users (like @enkoes is requesting). That’s assuming guests topics/replies are NOT allowed on the site. If they ARE allowed on the site, then it should function as it currently does:

    Option #1 is the easiest, doesn’t require any new options, and would probably be fine.

    Option #2 is a bit more complex, and may even be a little confusing to site owners. May be more work and complicated code than its’ worth, and probably unnecessary.

    I believe this issue has been resolved, and was due to a plugin conflict. Marking as resolved.

    English:

    The picture is really hard to make out.

    I don’t see any “errors”. What I do see isn’t very clear, but looks like your menu background is transparent, which puts the menu text over the page text making it hard to read. Is that what you’re referring to?

    What theme are you using?

    Can you provide a URL to the site so I can check it out? You can send it privately to [email protected] if you would prefer.

    Vietnamese:

    Hình ảnh thực sự rất khó để nhận ra.

    Tôi không thấy bất kỳ “lỗi” nào. Những gì tôi thấy không rõ ràng lắm, nhưng có vẻ như nền menu của bạn trong suốt, điều này đặt văn bản menu lên trên văn bản của trang khiến nó khó đọc. Đó có phải là những gì bạn đang đề cập đến?

    chủ đề gì bạn đang sử dụng?

    Bạn có thể cung cấp một URL đến trang web để tôi có thể kiểm tra nó? Bạn có thể gửi riêng tới [email protected] nếu muốn.

    Tested this, and just released a minor correction (version 5.5.5) to address a PHP warning message about array offsets when there’s no value specified.

    @dougs-senior-momentcom & @nbahnfreunde :

    Marking this topic as resolved, but feel free to post again if you encounter any issues with this new feature. 🙂

    Version 5.5.5 was just released to address this issue and also includes resync’d/regenerated translation files.

    Marking as resolved, but feel free to chime back in if you notice any other issues.

    Thanks again for notifying us about this PHP warning message!

    Nope. Not tracking it. Thanks for reporting it!

    I’ll do a “shake down” of the plugin tonight and publish a new release to fix this warning and any others if I find any. Expect a new release within the next few hours 😉

    @skayw

    I’m unfamiliar with this Impreza theme. I do not see any bbPress styling options. I only see general styling options. You gave the example of font styling, which I believe you are refering to this general “Typography” settings page within the theme (pictured below). Can you confirm that for me, or point me in the right direction if that’s not what you’re talking about?

    If that is the case, it appears that almost every settings page of that theme could/would affect bbPress.

    Colors, fonts, layouts, templates, search results, and so on. That theme has options for it, and so does Style Pack. FAR MORE OVERLAP than just font styles.

    Trying to match that theme’s settings to Style Pack settings seems a bit unrealistic, especially trying to keep them in sync between independent and unrelated theme/plugin updates.

    Before I even attempt to pursue any code changes related to your request, I’d like to analyze the theme and settings a little more thoroughly.

    From the Impreza “Manage Options” settings page (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=us-theme-options#manage) can you do a backup of your settings and send that file to me, or copy/paste your settings in an email:

    You can send it to [email protected]

    I’ll look into it further and see if there is a realistic way that makes sense to allow Impreza theme to apply values AND Style Pack to apply values without them conflicting/overriding each other.

    Until then, the best option is to actually set the font styling and other options you want within Style Pack too. Use the theme to handle your overall site, and Style Pack to handle the forum. Match the values within both to keep the look consistent.
