Answer: No, plugin files are not duplicated. They are either overwritten or ignored. See details of my answer below.

->so if i migrate tuktuk.com as subsite to ppnetwork as tuktuk.ppnetwork.com
will it replace existing plugins that are already there? or will ignore them? Especially if there is difference in plugin versions?

Answer: If you restore a complete/full package (package that includes plugins/themes/media files + db). Then yes, it will replace existing plugins in the target site with the plugins from the package. So if plugins in the target site are using older versions and the one in the WPRIME package are newer – then the target site plugins will be updated after migration since it will be replaced with newer versions (from the package). It won’t touch other plugins are that are not part of the migration.

If your package does not include plugins – e.g. (DB only or DB + Media package only) – then no plugins or themes are migrated or copied. All plugin/themes in the target site are untouched. However Prime Mover checks for plugin/theme version differences and inform user to proceed the restoration if it detects version differences.

For example; say you migrate only the database of the site and the source site is using Plugin X version 2.0 and the target site is using Plugin X version 1.0. If you do DB only migration or DB + media files (no plugins) to target site – Prime Mover will inform you if you want to proceed with the migration because it detects plugin version differences.

If you think this version difference will not cause error in your target site, you can proceed with the migration. Otherwise if you think it might cause error because the target site plugin version is older and the one in your source site is newer (not backward compatible) – you should abort the restoration.

Again this is only checked if you migrate a package that doesn’t include plugins. If your package includes plugins/themes (such as complete/full export package)- version checking is skipped and Prime Mover copies the plugins from the package to the target site plugins directory to perfectly clone the site (source and target site plugin versions the same).

Just in case it takes time to upload the package to Gdrive or if you don’t like to share packages. Just zip the runtime error log file (which is generated during restore) and send to us via the contact form. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hi thanks for using Prime Mover! May I know where the site is hosted? So we can run a few checks for issues? Yes if it’s forbidden file you can alternatively download the package via other methods.

Downloading using SFTP or using your hosting file manager should work as this is not anymore controlled by WordPress core or any WordPress plugin (including Prime Mover).

If you are still unable to download using SFTP or your hosting file manager – your hosting might have issues with downloads/connections (it could be temporary). Please open a ticket in your hosting company for assistance to download it.
