  • I have a similar problem except it’s related to the upgraded versions of plugins and it’s infuriating.

    1. I make sure the plugin is deactivated.
    2. I delete the old plugin directory (I’ve even tried renaming it)
    3. I upload the new version

When I check the plugins directory it still shows the old version!

I’ve looked in the WP plugins directory to check that the new version is there (it is).

When I check the plugin via the <Edit> option in WP, it shows the OLD version even though it no longer exists on the server.

What gives? Is WP caching the file somewhere (I’ve even tried to clearing the cache in Firefox)?

This is an ongoing problem with virtually every plugin I try to update.

    BTW, I’m running WP 2.6.2

I had the same problem when I upgraded to 2.6.1, not with every post though. I think it has something to do with the way WP interprets the various ‘flavours’ of printer’s quotes, em/en spaces etc that end up embedded in the texts.

The only way to correct it is to edit every instance.

Still doesn’t work and now, in the editor, the image is aligned left

Okay, tried the second option and it made no difference.

    Hi,
Okay thanks, I’ll try it but even so the code I posted is generated by WP not me, so it still points to some kind of bug in the WP editor?

And, as I mentioned, the alignment is correct in the editor.

Okay, the only way I can put a space between the title and the image is to insert a <p> at the end of the title! But surely there should be a way of doing this without putting code into the title?

Yes, I’ve done several times it’s just finicky as I have to make sure I don’t wipe out the plugins, themes etc.

I have managed to use the automatic process before without a problem though.

    Okay, thanks

Well this is what I get when I start the ftp process:

Warning: ftp_site() [function.ftp-site]: /public_html: No such file or directory. in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_prelimcheck.class.php on line 185

Warning: ftp_chdir() [function.ftp-chdir]: //public_html: No such file or directory. in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_prelimcheck.class.php on line 222

Warning: ftp_chdir() [function.ftp-chdir]: //public_html/wp-admin: No such file or directory. in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_prelimcheck.class.php on line 222

Warning: ftp_chdir() [function.ftp-chdir]: //public_html/wp-includes: No such file or directory. in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_prelimcheck.class.php on line 222

But then below that it says:

Great all done WPAU is ready to roll. Click here so that we can start the upgrade.

Then it successfully backs up the DB and informs me that:

Get or upload the latest version of WordPress

So I click on “Let’s Go”

    OK

We succesfully completed the task which, Downloads / Uploads the latest files for wordpress.

Next Task -> Puts the site into maintenance mode

Please CLICK HERE to go to the next task.

    But now I’m getting:

Warning: copy(/www/business/5382/index.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_upgrade.class.php on line 361

I’ve already had the host change permissions on this directory. Infuriating

Well I went through the entire process and it checked out as having upgraded the site including the screen telling me upgrade succeeded. I’ll try it again.

Okay, will do (tho I normally just upload and overwrite and it’s worked in the past.

One question, all the files in my site have a duplicate with the extension .LCK appended. Should I delete these as well?
