You are correct that I have the Pinterest add-on in my browser. However I never saw 2 buttons until I installed your latest version. But thanks for finding out the conflict.
I don’t know if I had a php.ini file prior to my call with my web host or not because it’s sitting in the real root whereas when I FTP in, I have it going into the public_html folder. I only looked in the real root when I first changed to the web host last year. Looking through the file I do not see anything which says XML-RPC so perhaps the file was never there.
According to their support, it says “Unless you specifically need to change one or more of the settings, there is no need to create or modify a php.ini file. If the php.ini file does not exist in your account, then your site will use the default PHP settings defined on the server.”
I discovered my site’s file was xmlrpc.php. After running it got: XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.
But after contacting my web host to see if they knew anything, the solution they did was to add php.ini to my root. Why it was required now and never was before is beyond me and they could not tell me why they had to do it either. But it not works.
Thanks. I got a 404 page not found error.
Yes, add me to having the same problem. I finally found out by deactivating the new version, my images were centered again. The only ones that are centered appear to be the ones with captions or if you go into every post and edit the image to say it’s centered. Need fix ASAP please.
Deleting comment due to early morning confusion. Same problem as described above.
I have the exact same message except on line 342. This is with version 4.3.3.
To anybody who is still having this problem with email links, the problem may be fixed in version 1.9 of Jetpack. I however still have a problem and that’s because of a limitation of WordPress.
First be sure you have the slug for your category or tag unchanged at least for Jetpack subscription emails. For example, if you have a tag of “Road Trip” the slug should be “road-trip”, not anything like “roadtrip”.
My problem is I have a tag and category with the same name and as support has told me: “You’re correct however that currently it’s not possible to use the same slug for a category as for a tag.”
Hence my tag is correct because the slug meets the description above but the link to the category doesn’t work since a different slug had to be created since it is the same name.
Hope that clarifies the issue for people. Just make sure you have unique category/tag slugs.
It is taking kind of long to get a fix since it has been 9 months already when it was first reported. If I want my readers who subscribe to emails to correctly use the emails, I might have to start looking for another plug-in just for email subscriptions. Anybody know of one that works?
FYI, I asked Support again for an update and got a reply on Sept. 4 saying “I’ve looked into this issue and confirmed there is still a problem with the category links in jetpack notification emails. I’m checking with our team and will let you know as soon as I have more details about a fix.”
If I hear of it being fixed, I will be sure to update this post.
Apparently I have fixed it. I looked at the W3TC settings and it had the message “The required directives for fancy permalinks could not be detected, please confirm they are available”. I confirmed the settings were there. The only difference is there was a blank line above the line:
# END WordPressI removed the blank line and W3TC did not give the error message any more. I then ran it through the debug checker and posts are not coming back with a 404 anymore.
Ya’ got me, but thanks for the insight and leading me to look at W3TC!
I see with the main link, I get a 200 error whereas a blog post URL gets the 404 from the Facebook debug page.
Thanks for the reply. First link has been used extensively. I’ve done some of the second link but will try the others. Right now I ended up using their webformmailer for the contact form but I know I’ll probably need to use something better in the future with captcha and other features.
It’s frustrating because Contact Form 7 used to work fine and I didn’t have to do extra stuff like installing mail plug-in’s. I almost wish I could tell them to give me a brand new install on another server and I’ll start from scratch.
Out of frustration and possible hope, I contacted GoDaddy support and just got off the phone after over an hour. The person I spoke to even went to the advanced hosting support. They could not recommend a form plug-in other than what has been previously mentioned with using their webformmailer.php which they ran on my server and it worked fine. They surprisingly said though that the plug-in that usually works is si-contact-form (Fast Secure Contact Form) even though it has a lot of settings.
They could not see anything from the form getting sent to the email server though and unfortunately could not offer any other suggestions. I was using Contact Form 7 originally which worked fine until sometime in the past couple months (I don’t get that many emails from the web form) and I did try a couple very simple contact form plug-ins and they seem to behave the same way as si-contact-form where the page refreshes and that’s it. Which leads me to believe there is something on the Linux server but they could not see what it could be.
I would like to get si-contact-form working since it supposedly is the best and GoDaddy even says it usually works. Somebody out there has to have this combination working somehow and hopefully can provide some suggestions?

In reply to: Fast Secure contact formFYI, apparently GoDaddy is now familiar with this common problem. I had the same issue and was ready to start making code changes but followed this link I found on another post:
http://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/session-start-errorAll I did was contact them as it suggested, they asked what plug-in I was trying to use, saw the error messages, and in a few minutes they said try it again. Errors gone!
