In reply to: [BulletProof Security] WP Super Cache, custom code and 'RewriteEngine On'My settings are without the URL, just the way I wanted it to be, when I used DUPLICATOR plugin to transfer my site from a testing subfolder to the main folder.
My question regarding www. to non-www concerned whether the EXTRA code I want to add is actually NEEDED given that the permalink and Site & WordPress URL does not include www. and some (efficient or not) redirection is already implemented
i.e. I don’t to have two rules for the same function:
1) wordpress using non-www. as set in the installation process
2) my extra code redirecting www to non-www.That’s what I read might cause trouble. I am just not certain that WP does that rewrite efficiently enough, because I see Google trying to index the www. version of the site, whereas it used to be “invisible” before.

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] WP Super Cache, custom code and 'RewriteEngine On'Thank you for your response.
I will place the rewrite code to the suggested place.
Just one more question, not really relevant to Bulletproof, if you don’t mind.
I’ve observed that some kind of redirection from www. to non-www is already in place, following the permalink structure in the settings, which does not include the www.
I am not certain whether I actually should be adding that rewrite code, that is, whether it is unneeded or it may even cause a problem with the existing functionality.I read somewhere than in WordPress it may cause trouble, specifically end up redirecting all links to the home page, but when I tried it for a while, I did not get this behaviour.
The reason I added it in the first place was that after moving from Joomla to WordPress, in Google Webmasters Tools I saw errors in the http://www.mysite.com version of the domain (one should add both and direct Google to use one of them) where none existed before (i.e. crawling errors with regard to robots.txt) whereas before the http://www.mysite.com seemed “invisible”.
I am looking for an technician’s opinion, but I know this is outside the Bulletproof support duties, so you can ignore it, by all means

In reply to: [Embeds for YouTube] Responsiveness lost?I have checked only by resizing the browser myself and because automatic video resizing in this case does happen with Viper’s Quicktags, but not with Youtube Embed, I may have mistakenly deduced that this also happens with true mobile devices.
Responsiveness does mean adapting to the size of the browser and in this case Youtube Embed fails to do that, in my case at least, for a desktop browser.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Embeds for YouTube] Progress bar flickering in Google Chrome browserHi, thank you for your response.
In Youtube itself the controls toolbar does not fade away, so I have no way of checking whether this occurs generally.

In reply to: [Mantra] Mantra enforces header image ratioThank you for your answer.
Yes I positively remember having this issue with WP 3.4.2 too. I hope a solution will be provided.
As I said before this is just not on par with the high level of user-friendly customization that Mantra allows.
This may be perceived more as a bug than feature-deficit by end users. For once I initially thought so and I was close to moving to another theme, but the high and readily available versatility kept me with MantraForum: Reviews
In reply to: [Mantra] Could not make the slider display any imagesYou have not been fair in your rating, I believe.
If Mantra is such a customizable theme, with so many user-friendly options, you can’t give it a 1 star just because the slider in the presentation page did not work for you.
You’re discrediting the whole effort for a minor issue, moreso rating your level of frustration than anything else.
If the slide is so important for you, what don’t you pick another slider and create a static home page?
Instead you give the theme 1 star rating…unfair.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Mantra] Header to big??Thank you for you reply.
I don’t think it’s beyond the issue of this particular thread, but rather the exact same thing.
When the code that you have given above is used and the user attempts to upload a header image through Appearance menu, Mantra continues to force a certain ratio (total width/header height) on that image – so only a small part of it is selectable and the cropping appears mandatory – thus the issue has not been / cannot be considered resolved.
Is there an alternative way to place a logo at the top, other than the Header selection setting?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Mantra] Header to big??Whatever I try, when I go to upload and set a new header image, notwithstanding its dimensions, Mantra enforces a the ration of total width to header height, so it’s unusable.
Something has got to be done about this generally or a solution provided in the form of Custom CSS.
You don’t need external plugins for that, use the appropriate field of the Theme’s Settings.

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] hotlinking prevention codeThank you very much for you response.
Nope the slash does not make a difference in this case - it is an assumed slash after .com (or .net, .org, etc) if it does not exist.
I probably don’t understand and I certainly have no knowledge on this, but aren’t all files that need hotlink protection after that slash (e.g. h**p://mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/myimage.jpg) ?
But that’s just a novice rationalization, so you can ignore me.I don’t have any subdomains and the code works for me. Of course f it can be improved for all, under you criteria, that’s also great. Would happily update to the new version.
Performing server based conversion would likely reduce server resources available to clients and connecting to an external service may not be the safest way possible.
I’d recommend giving up “ease of use” and optimize your images before you upload them
I’ve been having great results with jpegmini (your host could get a license and support this service, but for me it’s just as fine).
It supports uploading lots of images at once. It will send you a link to download your optimized images
check it out

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Clarifications neededThank you very much, I will follow your advice.

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Clarifications neededYou can also edit the image(s) from the Upload Files tab, one at a time. Are you suggesting some kind of “bulk edit” feature that goes beyond that?
Exactly. If one is writing an article and has prepared some images to be used in that article, it would be more time consuming to have to edit each file separately if a general tag applies that is taxonomically useful.
Given that one would use them in the particular post, one would probably have the chance to apply tags to each and the bulk edit function is already there, so it’s not a deal breaker, but still it’d nice to be able to do so when possible and remove steps if they can be done without.Yes, Media Library Assistant does respect that normal slug creation process in different areas/ways to insert/assign tags. As I said I just thought it’s worth highlighting, as is the value of autocomplete for all tag-assigning/adding fields.
I can just keep rambling on about these things cause I’ve been “hurting” trying to keep track of keywords in Joomla and maintain some level of uniformity across articles.
Once again, thank you very much for you response and your attention to user comments.
