Hi @wppit,
Thanks for reaching out!
Our team is currently working on a new release which will address this. I’ll share an update here once I have a better idea of the timeline.
Thank you!
Hi @efegea,
Thanks for waiting! We weren’t able to recreate the bug on our end. In this case, there are a couple of things worth checking that could be contributing to the issue.
If you have a user role management plugin active or something similar, it might be causing a conflict with the MonsterInsights Permissions settings. Please let me know and I’ll be happy to investigate further.
It’s also possible the issue is happening due to duplicate Google Analytics tracking on the site. We recommend removing other Google Analytics plugins or tracking snippets. You can find more details on how to check for that here: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/how-to-find-duplicate-google-analytics-tracking-codes-in-wordpress/
I hope this helps! For now, I’ll mark the issue as resolved, but if neither of those turns out to be the cause, we’d love to take a closer look. Feel free to reach out to us directly at https://www.monsterinsights.com/get-help/ and we can dig into it further.
Thank you!
Hi @wetah,
Hope things are well! I just wanted to share a quick update that our team is working on implementing a fix for this, and though I’m not able to give a specific timeline, it’s aimed to be shipped in a future release.
In the meantime, the workaround shared earlier should keep things running smoothly. We’ll mark this as resolved for now. Feel free to reopen once the fix is out if anything still looks off.
Thank you!
Hi @ajadalif,
Thanks for reaching out!
Yes, we have a guide that walks through exactly this: How to Set Up Google Analytics Custom Event Tracking
When using MonsterInsights, various events are automatically tracked for you. But for tracking internal links or creating custom events, it does involve adding a small data attribute to your links or buttons (e.g.
data-vars-ga-category). It’s a lightweight, standardized way to track interactions without having to write custom tracking scripts from scratch each time.I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks!
Hi @omniafausta,
Thanks for reaching out! I’m so sorry for the delay here.
Yes, manual deletion is the way to go for a full cleanup. Most rows are removed during uninstallation of the plugin, but a small number of entries are intentionally left behind so ExactMetrics doesn’t need to be reconfigured in case of temporarily or accidental plugin deactivation.
Some example rows to remove are:
- exactmetrics_settings
- exactmetrics_over_time
- exactmetrics_current_version
Please try a search for ExactMetrics in your database to locate them. There are also two crons that can be deregistered:
- exactmetrics_email_summaries_cron
- exactmetrics_usage_tracking_cron
In case you need some help with locating where you can make these changes, here are some guides:

How to View and Control WordPress Cron Jobs — https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-view-and-control-wordpress-cron-jobs/
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks!
