In reply to: Jetpack 2.9.2 not downloading, Help!Peter… I finally exchanged emails with someone and they advised to delete the original jetpack file, then use FTP to reload the files. It took me a while to do this, since it is foreign to me. But here is the text of the email that the Support person sent to me. And it worked. Jetpack is now functional for me.
Hi David!
It’s really best to reinstall the current update, which includes bug fixes and new features. I promise it will work! And once you get through the ftp process once, it’s going to seem super easy to you.
Here’s a little overview about ftp that might help you here:
With FTP (also known as File Transfer Protocol), you would need to contact your host to get your FTP login information for your website. They should be able to provide that for you upon request.
Then, here’s a great tutorial video on how to use FTP to find your plugins folder – the video references how to fix things if plugins go wrong!
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-ftp-to-upload-files-to-wordpress-for-beginners/You would want to navigate to wp-content/plugins/ and find the folder named “jetpack”. You can then delete the entire “jetpack” folder and that will remove the plugin from your site. Here’s what your WordPress file structure should look like and where the “jetpack” folder is located – it may look different based upon the program you’re using for FTP, but the structure is going to be the same:
http://d.pr/i/VUNdThat should take care of it – then you can reinstall the Jetpack plugin from the dashboard of your site. If you want to make sure there aren’t any conflicts when you reinstall, you can temporarily disable your existing plugins, then reactivate them after you get Jetpack up and running.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you’re still having trouble and I’ll be happy to help.
Thanks,
