It seems to be a problem with apostrophes. There’s a fix for it that worked for me here: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/38599#post-218146

Oops! I figured it out. The google site maps plugin we were using was generating an error. We replaced it with the most current version of the plugin and everything is all better now. Thanks to anybody who might have looked at this.
