Update.
Actually rolling back to Gutenverse ver 3.4.1 resolved the issue.
I noticed that this file, reactplayer-vimeo-api.js is present only in 1 place:

/wp-content/plugins/gutenverse-news/lib/framework/assets/js/reactplayer-vimeo-api.js

But after the update to 3.4.3, the code expects this file at
/wp-content/plugins/gutenverse/lib/framework/assets/js/reactplayer-vimeo-api.js

which is not there. it wasn’t there in previous ver 3.4.1 but it wasn’t expecting it there. Anyway, there seems to be an issue.

Thank you for a quick reply. Display Folder Data shows I have 617 folders. None of the folders have missing parent ID. I had similar problem before, and it was a huge amount of files in folders not directly related to the images I use so you advised me to place empty mlpp-hidden files in such directories which I wanted to skip during scan. And it helped. But now even with the such files present, the scan seems never completes.

What else can I try?

You can always download the plugin from GiveWP and then manually upload it your site. Remove/delete the old version and unzip the newly uploaded one.
