Fixed it, thanks. Turns out this wasn’t my actual issue. The page was still showing a default 500 error page after this fix. I found out that was due to folder permission settings.
so I made a copy of my site locally, went through plugin by plugin deactivated then refreshed the admin panel, checked the dev console and discovered it was a plugin called Root Relative URLs By Marcus E. Pope
