I have exact the same problem. At my last provider (transmega) there was no problem eith the plugin. Now I have Hosting2go and I get a socket 111 error.
I asked the helpdesk of my provider and they told me that they probably refuseses to connect to your servers. Is it possible to tell me the ip adresses of your servers. Then dthe provider can add these numbers tot their whitelist.
