In reply to: How to fix someone hacking into a wp install? Thanks again…. the “perp” emailed me to let me know it’s the forum (he says, consider the source….) which I’d already deactivated and removed etc. for the time being until I can get with the author on the problem, due to finding it on the list at milw0rm (and it’s the only plugin used on the site that’s on the list).
The perp expects me to thank him for hacking – as opposed to simply emailing me to let me know there’s a problem? *sigh* No wonder I really don’t like people very much.

In reply to: Segmenting blogrollPersonally haven’t run across this in the past…. Did you consider contacting the site’s author/maintainer and asking how it was done?

In reply to: How to fix someone hacking into a wp install?Thank you! I am looking through all that now. I do so much appreciate your help…. I swear I’m going to fire this client one of these days – this is NOT the first dumb thing he’s done, and I’m POSITIVE it won’t be the last unfortunately.

In reply to: How to fix someone hacking into a wp install?Well, I understand about the “known” issues thing. And I’d MUCH rather upgrade this site particularly to 2.3+ – but I tried that on one of my own (2.0.11 > 2.3.3) and my categories were totally whacked, many of my posts were missing, some posts were not attributed to the correct cats…. so I can’t chance that on a client site unless and until I know what happened….
Plugins: Simple-Press Forum; Akismet; Category Cloud Widget; My Link Order; Sidebar Widgets; Sociable; Text-Control; the_excerpt_reloaded; WP-Deadbolt (Simple Forum Version).
Is there a site with collected info about plugins with published exploits?

In reply to: How to fix someone hacking into a wp install?Ah, hmm. Okay, didn’t realize I’d need to change the mysql pw as well.
Once I do that, will I need to reupload files again? Admin is still showing 2.0.11….
And…. should I change the user pws through the wp admin i’face, or through the database again?
