 * You may just not have permissions to write to the upload folder. You need to 
   allow write access to wp-content/uploads so that wordpress can download files
   to that folder. From there it extracts them to complete the update. You’ll have
   to use either an FTP, SSH, or the File Manager or something provided by your 
   web host in order to change those permissions
