In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Sidebar WidgetAndrew,
Thanks for your comment and for being yet another awesome user of WPBookList! I’m actually in the middle of completely re-writing WPBookList from the ground-up in order to create a solid base from which to add a ton of new features from, and I have plans to introduce several widgets for WPBookList, one of which will do exactly what you’ve suggested. Another will be a type of widget that let’s users vote on their favorite title out of 3 or 4 options.
I’m anticipating the release of the ‘new’ WPBooklist within a month or so, so keep an eye out for updates!

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Deactivation caused all added books to be removed. As of recent updates to WPBookList, books are now only removed from a library once the plugin is deleted, not just deactivated.
Let me know if you encounter any more trouble, but for now, I’ll close this thread and mark as resolved.
Thanks!

Actually there is! When adding the book (and only when adding it – not when editing it), you can use HTML in the notes section. So, for example, if I wanted to place a link to Google in my notes section, I would type:
And once the book is added, you should see a link to Google in the Notes section.
Just replace the address in the quotes above with the iBooks link, and replace the word ‘Google’ in between the ‘>’ and ‘<‘ with whatever text you want the reader to actually click on for the link.

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Deactivation caused all added books to be removed.Currently, WPBookList is set to remove data when deactivated, to prevent large amounts of information being left in the user’s website, however, I’m actually working on an update right now that will retain all data until the user actually deletes the plugin.
Did you happen to make a backup of your library at any time? If so, once you re-activate WPBookList and view you (empty) library, all you’ll have to do is click on the ‘Backup and Download Book List’ link, and select your backup from the drop-down menu.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience, and I’ll notify you personally when this update is complete so that this won’t happen again!
Thanks for using WPBookList!

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Books not showing up – paid premium website downHi Corinair,
Thanks for your interest, and sorry you’re having trouble! I’m doing some impromptu maintenance on my website. I’ve manually sent the ‘command’ to unlock the premium features to your website, so you should see those enabled shortly.
As far as not being able to find your particular book, I’m assuming you’re trying to add ‘Ghandi – An Autobiography: The Story of My Experiments with Truth’, among others? Looks like you tried adding the book with the ISBN10 number (0807059099) – I just googled the book, found it’s ISBN13 number, and tried that on your website and it worked. Just a general rule-of-thumb, if you can’t adda book by it’s ISBN10 number, try it’s ISBN13 number. Also, you’ve alerted me to a possible bug, so I’ll be working that out in an upcoming update.
Also, if you happen to end up being thrilled with WPBookList, then consider leaving a 5-star review at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/wpbooklist/reviews/ – reviews go a loooooong way towards getting more downloads!
Let me know how things are working now!
Thanks again,
Jake

Are you still having this issue with version 3.3?
Let me know and I’ll investigate further.

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Add a Book linkUpdate: Stevespeirs determined that the issue was a conflict with a caching plugin on his website, and not necessarily anything directly related with WPBookList. Closing thread as resolved.

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Add a Book linkJust to keep this thread updated, stevespeirs and I have communicated via e-mail and determined that there may be an issue with jQuery and stevespeir’s WordPress theme, which is preventing WPBookList from functioning correctly.

In reply to: [WordPress Book List] Good value, GREAT PotentialThanks a lot dnuttall! Despite being a WordPress plugin, I like to choose what will make the most sense from a design and usability-standpoint, and not just necessarily default to the usual ‘WordPress’ way. That being said, if the WordPress way ends up being the best way, then that’s the route I’ll go!
