In reply to: [BackWPup β WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] compare archive formatsHi ChipsC,
generally speaking, Tar is the quickest of the formats you’ve mentioned, because it just packs, but doesn’t compress.
Tar with GZip still is quickly packed, but the format is not very well supported to be unpacked under Windows, so Windows users might have to install additional software to unpack those archives.
ZIP from all of the 3 takes the longest time to be packed and compressed, but it is very widely supported. If your aiming to quickly download and unpack, ZIP is your format of choice.
For deeper insight into the details of Zip, Tar and Gzip these randomly picked google results might be interesting:

In reply to: [BackWPup β WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Cannot authorize DropboxHi jetlej , coming back to your question. The authentication issue is likely to be caused by something interfering while BackWPup tries to connect to the other server in order to send its authentication request. That βsomethingβ can be a) a caching plugin, or b) the hosting company when it doesn’t allow for external connections other than to ww.wp.xz.cn.
Do you run a caching plugin on your site?
Who’s your webhost?@atomict You can try setting up a job for a database backup only and see if it executes. Would it be ok to post your (anonymized) job settings? You can export the via Jobs screen. Hover over a job name and click Export when the navigational line appears.
Also, please post your results in a new forum topic! It is very hard to keep track when people post their questions into an existing topic that might or might not be related. (This doesn’t go for you only, of course, I’m just randomly trying promote the need.)

In reply to: [BackWPup β WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] How to resolve this error?Hi dlmweb,
try switching your backup format to tar (without gz). Also, do you run a caching plugin on your site? If so, please exclude its log files and folders from your backup. Also you might want to exclude /home/content/10/nnnnn/html/stats/logs from your backup since it’s not readable and causes a warning.
Hi marklang, please try this: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/309-still-has-probs-uploading-to-dropbox?replies=2#post-4150263
If that doesn’t fix it, try this one: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/still-not-working-after-update?replies=7#post-4152589@oomjan Looks like the connection between server and Dropbox doesn’t cope with the size of your backup. Try setting Maximum number of retries for job steps (in Settings->Jobs) to 10. If that doesn’t fix it, please consider splitting up your one backup job into multiple smaller ones.
What value is set for Restart on archive creation?
Edit: Please try this solution: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/still-not-working-after-update?replies=7#post-4152589
Issue has been fixed, please update to 3.0.10.
Hi OomJan,
have you been able to test BackWPup 3.0.10 yet? Are you still interested in using BackWPup?
Thanks,
