This is how that theme is designed. It only allows widgets in the footer. THat’s something you can’t change unless you fiddle with the theme’s files which we don’t recommend and it’s something we cannot provide support for.

What you’re describing requires a heavy modification of the theme and that’s something we can’t provide support for.
If you absolutely need to make such modification, then I recommend hirring a professional developer.
Can you please share a link the page or post where that slideshow is so I can have a closer look?

You can do that. You just need to enable counting views from your site’s members. To do that go to your Dashboard > Jetpack > Traffic > Site Stats and enable the stats counting from each user role.

Is there any misbehaviour known when using W3T Cache or other plugins, that could influence your tracking?
We’re not aware of such thing. As @supernovia already metioned Jetpack Stats counts visits differently than other tools.
