In reply to: backup pluginI’m stumped at the moment. The plugins either won’t work or aren’t free (or at least not free if you want to use google drive). I have sufficient space on google drive and my php should work. I think its a memory issue with backuply. Is there a way of increasing the memory on the wordpress site?

In reply to: WP post not showingSorry Jorge – an update – found where the PHP version can be changed on host cpanel (which I used last time this happened) and put it back to 7.4. Changed plugins.hold back to plugins. Site working but I really do need to sort the PHP versus WP version out. My host says even PHP 8.0 is depreciated but using that breaks the site….

In reply to: WP post not showingThanks for your reply Jorge. I thought I did to DB but this plugin clearly stopped working some months ago. So no. After this is sorted a recommended plugin for back ups to DB will be the subject of another post. By logging into my host and using cpanel to rename the plugin folder to .hold I’ve got the site up and running but I can’t depreciate my PHP back to the old version using their tool. I should add that I used this to up the version. They claim to test it and this test was fine so I accepted the upgrade.
For me this PHP/WP version issue has happened before. How do you get a version of PHP that works with WP plugins and doesn’t bring the site down?
Made a backup on cpanel.

In reply to: malware attempts on siteYes thanks its fading now i.e. the people from Sweden have almost stopped visiting that page its been viewed by a few other nationalities but not to the same extent… I’ve just had a few hits from Sweden on a more recent post which was the subject of a spam blog comment attempt…

Only using “social publisher”
Publish to author’s Timeline [?] Yes ticked

Mentions show on homepage [?] No clear not ticked
Mentions position [?] Both
Publish for [?] postpage Post ticked onlyHope this helps I don’t need to logged into FB fro this to work. Sometimes we get html at the beginning of the post on FB sometimes not.

In reply to: wordpress and ftpThe problem is I tried upgrading a couple of plugins as suggested by them. One didn’t upgrade and I got “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute”. I somehow managed to get rid of this but looked it up and realised I may need to use ftp, I will for making a backup anyway. But I cannot login using the ftp it doesn’t recognise my password.

How do you get rid of the html at the beginning? Someone posted a link on how to do this but I cannot find it.

Set it and enabled post to fanpage (also possible) and made two test posts to FB page. Seems to be working. I will try it for a few days and report back.
