But I have figured out what the issue was. It’s just plugin confliction. Ajax search for woocommerce plug-ins (By Damian Góra) is the culprit. I disable the plugin and everything is working fine.

I have to remove the code as you suggested and add the code you posted and the result is that empty sidebar pops up each time I click on cart icon. what should I do now because most of my customer access the website with their phone? is it possible to remove the mobile cart sidebar? it is of no value to me.

The issue was encountered with my Samsung galaxy note 3 running on Android version 5.0.
