Hi @eliasvetter,
This looks like a false-positive error/detection in the ModSecurity module on your server.
The rule causing it is rule number 77229500 or 229500, you need to ask your hosting company to remove that rule or create an exception, that is an old rule that dates back to NextGen version 2.x years ago and the issue was fixed back then.
Please let us know how it went.
With NextGen you can allow the logged in users create their own galleries and upload images to them. You’ll need to either allow the visitors register on your site or manually create user accounts for them, assign low user roles then enable specific capabilities for that role from “NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Roles & capabilities”.
Hi @carry2web,
Thanks for the follow-up. We are closing all of the threads that we have replied to.
Unfortunately, we have no updates on this feature request and as far as we can say, it wasn’t included into one of the upcoming 2 projects that we have in the queue but the good news is that we look forward to see if it can be added sometimes in the future.
Hi @allenfreeman,
We are sorry to hear of the problem.
First of all, let’s try deactivating LiteSpeed’s Image Lazy Loading then clear the cache and check again to see if that’ll change anything.
If that doesn’t help, let’s also temporarily deactivate LiteSpeed CSS and JS minify/combine then re-check.
Please keep us updated on your results.
Hi @gamicord,
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be possible. NextGen Gallery doesn’t come with video galleries support neither with a feature that’d allow uploading files via frontend.
Hi @cable2001,
Could you please let us know what block/shortcode settings do you use for this gallery page?
Hi @daymobrew,
Please access “Manage Albums” then press “Show all” link at the top to force NextGen display all of the galleries. By default it will only display the galleries that were not linked with any albums.

In reply to: [Photo Gallery, Sliders, Proofing and Themes - NextGEN Gallery] Only AlbumsHi @kontilo,
We suggest you have multiple layers of albums. For example, the first layer of albums would contain the years, the second layer would contain the months and so on. You can check this documentation article for more details on how to work with sub-albums in NextGen Gallery: https://www.imagely.com/docs/manage-albums/
As for the ordering, by default, the albums will appear sorted following the order from “Manage Albums”.
Hi @jimk1416,
We are sorry but this legacy method of adding images isn’t officially supported and it may potentially work with Classic editor only.
We suggest you use NextGen SinglePic shortcodes instead:
[singlepic id=361]
Where id parameter requires the image’s ID that you’ll find visiting the gallery within “NextGen Gallery -> Manage Galleries”.
Hi @kvlwp,
We are sorry but currently NextGen doesn’t come with such a setting that’d allow [keyword AND keyword] logic. We can only register it as a feature request.
Hi @jakub017,
NextGen comes with a very complex image management system that differs from how WP Media works and respectively, it needs to copy the WP Media images to the gallery directory then it’ll create its own resized versions out of that. If you plan on using these images with NextGen only, you can directly upload them from your PC to NextGen.
As for the issues while uploading from PC compared to importing from WP Media, I’d check to if uploading less images or images of a lower resolution works. It can be due to a server RAM overflow or perhaps the images have exceeded the maximum resolution that PHP GDlibrary can process.
NextGen will likely import images of a smaller resolution from WP Media so that can explain why it worked.

Hi @pizzayy,
Only a couple gallery display types come with unofficial support of order_by=”rand()” shortcode parameter that you can add by editing NGG block as HTML to manually add this parameter.
We suggest you directly contact us at https://www.imagely.com/account/ for more details being the thing that you have Pro and due to the forum rules, we are not allowed to provide premium support here.
Hi @claudeb56,
Could you please let us know if you are getting redirected to any error page and what’s the error code?
Let’s try do any different change to that gallery within “Manage Galleries” to see if that change will save. If it doesn’t then most likely that’s ModSecurity related and we’ll have a solution for you.
Hi @lynnapp,
Both shortcodes look fine and actually should display a gallery. Feel free to contact us here https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/ and we’ll have a direct look at the problem.
Thanks
Happy we could help!
