In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] How to get rid of UL class insertThanks Hector. I’m not in a rush, so I’ll await the official update.
I didn’t say they were errors, I said they were “warnings”. But what they do is fill up your error logs and slightly slow down each PHP process, which makes it harder to spot the real errors. Looking forward to when they get cleaned up.
Is there a reason it doesn’t exist in the WP editions?

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Akismet server offline?Same and it’s not just on WordPress, but other systems that use it too. Impacting registrations, comments, forum posts etc. The domain itself ‘rest.akismet.com’ seems fine, but it’s the actual system on top of it that seems to be failing.

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] Plugin script wpp.min.js its running in every webpageCan this be done so that it only unloads the script on the front page of the site, and not post pages?
Some posts didn’t make it through to any of our social media channels yesterday evening or this morning. No reports of any problems under ‘Notifications’ and I did check all the network connections to make sure they were functional. Looks like I’m back to manual sharing for a bit as the auto-poster seems to becoming unreliable.
Problems again today. Seems to be taking about 6-15 minutes for new posts to reach our social media channels, which suggests sluggish performance on the B2S side. Normally we have a 1-minute delay on the auto-poster, so this is abnormal.
The auto-poster and no changes on the site, it just suddenly started. In the past hour or so I’ve noted that new posts are getting shared again and the older posts have also now been shared, although there’s still a bit more lag than usual after you press ‘publish’ on a new article, before the social sharing process completes.
IMO this is one of the best supported plugins around and is often updated, so you’re in good hands.

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] Optimise the java callYep, that worked :), although it does catch the inline code too (<script defer id=”wpp-json” type=”application/json”>), as well as the main .js line (not sure if this is a good or bad thing?). I’ve also noticed that WordPress seems to now be recommending a different approach, but the examples they give seem to include a hard coded URL.
Registering scripts with `async` and `defer` attributes in WordPress 6.3

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] Optimise the java callGave that a try, but it didn’t seem to add defer. I tried changing the handle from ‘wpp’ to ‘wpp-js-js’ too, but that didn’t work either. I also tried moving the add_filter call to the top of the code block, but no change. Not sure why it isn’t working, as it seems correct. I am not using any cache on my beta install.

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] Optimise the java callI’m trying not to add more plugins to WordPress right now :). Is there another way to add the defer tag to the wpp.min.js?ver=6.4.2 line, as it’s added to the header by the plugin and not manually.

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] Can I get rid of the UL?Thanks Hector.
Nothing changed at my end. The 8.3 deprecations are still an issue, so there’s not much more to add until NGG fixes them. The only reason it’s an issue with NGG is because of how often NGG triggers within WP, which means NGG deprecations fill up error logs on big sites and makes it tedious to spot other problems. Other plugins seem to fix these things rather more quickly.
